Annie Duke Leaves UB

I found this quite interesting to read this afternoon on twitter and then her sites.

Ive never heard anything but bad things about UB. It also says something when Hellmuth and Annie Duke leave in the same day. I think something is awful strange about that!!!

It will be interesting to see what happens to Ultimate Bet and Absolute in the next year or so. I understand letting them both go at the same time, being it's the end of the year and their contracts probably expired; but why they would not renew their contracts, I can only imagine financially not being able to, and big names like PH and Annie Duke not wanting to be tied to a sinking ship.

Well, so long Ultimate Bet/Absolute, I never enjoyed gaming there anyways.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think Annie Duke is Howard Lederer's brother. And I think Howard Lederer played a huge part in opening Full Tilt. Based on Phil Hellmuth's facebook says something big is in the future and he is looking forward to a bright future. Perhaps Hellmuth and Duke are going to start their own poker website.

One thing Annie and Phil have in common is that people either really love them or really hate them. Maybe Cereus, with all its other woes, just didn't want to have to deal with that dynamic any more.

Who knows...and maybe we'll find out and maybe we won't. Speculating sure is fun though.

That is not true. Do anyone know someone who likes Annie Duke? The majority hates her. Hellmouth, I can agree with, some people love him or hate him, but he is very popular.

Regardless of why they left, I just cant see how it can be a positive thing for UB. Im not gonna say the site is going down, but it is a bit curious... Too soon to say the sky is falling, but I guess we will see.

IMO if anybody has any funds on UB I would get them off now. Annie Duke leaving is meh, but Hellmuth departing means something is up.

Though I'm aware that most guys dislike Annie Duke. I know lots of women who really respect her. I, for one, would take her over Phil Hellmuth any day. She's worked really hard to promote the legalization of online poker in a big way, including appearing before a Congressional Committee last year. Her philanthropic efforts are legend. Phil is all about promoting Phil.

Back to the latest gossip--apparently pro Joe Rietman (sp?) finally asked Annie to marry him on Christmas Eve and she said yes. Regarding affiliating with another site anytime soon, she said no.

Sounds pretty bad to me. Aside from Annie & Phil, I couldn't even think of any other pros there. Sadly, I never deposited there, so can't withdraw. And at this point, I'd be afraid to, like maybe cut my losses. I mean what could UB be thinking? You gotta imagine an total onslaught of withdrawals are in progress - or should I say attempted. Hey, could anyone else see Hellmuth at Carbon?

Yeah, makes me wish I'd tried to trade my $10 with someone on Stars or FTP before now

Honestly, if anything, I'm surprised it took this long. Once their respective scandals broke, both UB and Absolute should have been entirely void of players, in my opinion.
