Cash game strategy

First, let me start by saying that I'm almost positive this topic has been addressed in another thread. However, searching for "poker table strategy" doesn't exactly narrow anything down much.

Thanks to this site (mostly), I've come to understand much more about playing poker as a mindset. Things like: what it really means to be TAG, how to manage your stack, what's "overbetting" a pot, etc.

I feel as if I'm doing everything right, in terms of how to bet pots (something that you guys have helped me with immensely recently). However, playing TAG poker, I feel I've been winning marginal pots and losing big ones. True, I've had some MONSTER suckouts against me recently (runner-runner flushes, 1 and 2 outters, etc.), but still. Is this just me having bad luck? The thing is, restricting my hands to only the top 10-12 or so, I feel that noone is allowing me to get much past the flop, as they are afraid I have a monster.

Any advice to help me, guys? From my 100 deposit, I've lost about 14 of it (and went out on a super sat to an FTOPS event that cost me 7 bucks). It feels as if every time I win a 2 or 3 dollar pot in $10NL, I get felted. Thanks for whatever help you give me.

Perhaps you're missing out on the latter part of tight-aggressive. If they are folding when you hit a monster, that means they will also fold when you don't hit the monster. What do you do if you have AK and the flop comes Q83? Do you just check-fold? Playing like that and in a very predictable manner is a great way to lose money in poker. Also, it seems you're not able to get away from your hands very well. If you are facing a lot of aggression, you may need to get away from TPTK or an overpair. Can't really say much more without more details, but post a few of the hands where you get felted in the HA section (not the ones where you get runner-runner flushed, unless of course you put the money in after the suckout occurred).

Like Zachvac said, they're folding to your actions/image, not to your cards. They don't know your cards. They'd have folded that raise if you had 7/2o instead of the Q/Q.

Once you see that people are folding to your raises, loosen up a little.
Not only will this allow you to take more pots (with continuation bets and such) but people will start to play back at you, and you can nail them when you have a monster.
IE, they'll chase their top pair all the way to the river because they don't believe you.

If you can fold your Q/J when he re-raises the 3/6/J flop, then you can do OK with loosening up beyond the top dozen hands.

I feel one of the main reasons to play TAG or LAG is the moves that each allow you to execute

If you're a TAG player loosening up will help you steal since you will have some added respect

and as for playing LAG you will more often that not get paid off when you have a monster

the beauty isn't in what style you play it's how you use the image it gives you

That probably means that your bankroll isn't big enough.

I started with 100 bucks, which had decreased to about 80. I finished last night with 115.
