What is the strategy for a 10min blind level live tourney? Usually between 50-60 people play at a local tournament that I go to here on the east coast. Usually start with around 15k chips and blinds start at 100/200 and go up every 10mins. So what is the proper strategy? Limp a lot during the beginning? Avoid raising to much and play relatively tight? I figure I need to play more than just a few hands to increase my stack in the beginning. Then toward the later stages get a little looser? Is this the right call? I'm not a beginner but not an expert either. I've taken down a handful of first places at these tourneys but have not been consistent. Any thoughts?

re: Poker & What is the strategy for a 10min blind level live tourney? Nah don't play loose later on as a fair few people will shove. Depends on what style you're comfortable with. If you're not a good LAG player don't even attempt it. 10 min blind levels are pretty rapid live. Its pretty hard to say much else without knowing your skill level and what sort of you're opponents your up against. If you're a good player then youcan use post flop skills and exploit the fish. Generally if your playing loose players tighten up, if your playing tight players loosen up.

10 min blind levels are very quick since live dealing is about 2-3 times slower meaning that the strategy should be similar to how internet turbo tournaments are played. And for that you should learn push/fold as baudib1 said and the overall strategy would be to be very tight in the beginning and quite loose pushing a lot when the blinds are high.

3 bet more often in turbo games, with the intention of shoving since blinds move so fast, you cant stay tight in a game this fast, and blind lvls being so high already. Turbos are a lot of luck tho if you can find the nits steal from them more if everyone is loose then you are going to have to play a shove/fold game to steal blinds. GL

re: Poker & What is the strategy for a 10min blind level live tourney? There's this odd point where we can play somewhat normal (for donkament) poker with 25+ BBs where you can raise-fold, play a flop and occasionally bet-fold a flop and 15-18 BBs where you should just shove or 3-bet shove. In between there's not a huge difference in fold equity with 25 BBs effective and 15 so it's like they're just freerolling the other 10 BBs and you can't really stop and go either. So we should raise-fold less and probably resteal less.
