Jaming in the small blind
Hey got into the money in two tornaments out of three at the local casino during the western classics main event week. Coming 4 th in one and 3rd in another. But must admit that short handed late in torney is not my strong point, so would apreciate some help on how to play here.
Blinds 800/1600 In one of the torneys I became a massive chip leader when 6 oponents were left. I had about 200k second chip leader had about 100k and couple of short stacks at about 20k and a couple mid stacks at about 50k.
table dynamics was a mixture of tight and loose players with most somwhere in between.
My strategy was to open up my range towards the loose players , for instance the two players to my right were really loose showing down some crap which they kept raising my blinds preety much everytime. So I started defending my blinds with shit like 57s, 10J, Ax ,Kx, etc . I even called a 50k shove from the bb with A10o as I knew this guy (sb) had a realy weak range and I expected to be ahead most of the time. So shore enough he turns over 9 4o and hits a 4 on the river to take down the pot. The thing was that they were raising with shit I was defending with shit but they always had position, when I 3bet they would call. One had a mid stack the other had the 100k stack.
So question number one is - should I have not opened up so much and protected my stack.
So later on I got down to 3 players with relative stacks of 150k maybe 20k between chip leader and short stack. With the agressive players gone I was left with a tight player to my left and a semi agressive player to my right.
After passing chips back and forward for about 20min i get down to about 90k and blinds going up soon i decided that Im going to go for 1st place witch ofered 7k prize money and a trophy which was worth more than the money to me. 4K for second 3k third.
The blind at that point were 2000/4000
One of the guys mentioned a deal but I didnt see the point as there was 14k in the pool and we would get 4.5k each witch is not much difference as getting 3rd or second.
Ok so with the tight player to my left , I remembered a video I saw on drag the bar , where the sb was jaming on the bb almost everytime when folded around to with almost any two cards. I also remeber Baudib1 saying something like this on here once.
Actually in the video the sb was jamming on the bb , but there was 5 players left and she had a mid stack , jamming on another mid stack.
So I decided to start jamming on the tight player with Qx, Kx, Ax, 10.J+, 89s sort of hands , 3rd hand into the strategy I jam with K10o sb wakes up with Ak and im out of there.
Any thoughts on this apreciated , thanks
