Hey Guys and Gals,
First off I want to say even though I've almost never posted here I have followed this forum for a long time and it has helped me tremendously! I've been consistently winning and my local casino's 50 man MTT weekly, and on Bovada too, in fact I placed 3rd out of 1387 the other day in the 10k guaranteed for a $1300 win! So thanks everyone for all your posts!
Now my question revolves around my play with pocket pairs in a MTT. Here's a typical scenario for me that I run into quite frequently.
Villain raises 4-6bb, Hero re raises additional 4-6bb with KK, table folds, villain 4bet shoves. This pretty much makes me think he has a pocket pair, question is how is it going to play out. Hero calls all in. Villain shows 66.. rivers a six. I'm now crippled for the rest of the tournament.
Perhaps it's selective memory but I seem to run into the 36% chance of another player holding a pocket pair more frequently. In fact it's this one play that generally is the only reason I get knocked out before making it to the money.
So am I making a mistake reraising with strong pairs like QQ through AA. or should I generally just be calling a 4-6bb raise to see a flop and re-evaluate?
The other situation I run into a lot when holding these strong pairs is I'll raise 3BB from early position, then someone shoves all in from late position, and I generally call and get crippled. Not much I can do about that, I have to raise, but is 3BB from early too small for a strong pair, and am I right for calling a 30BB re-raise shove from late position?
Thanks all!
