poker magazines I am looking to subscribe to a poker magazine, does anyone have any suggestions as to which one I should chose? I kind of narrowed it down to two different ones but I just can't decide on which one, Card Player or Bluff magazine.

I couldn't decide between the two either, and so I subscribed to both! To my way of thinking, CP and Bluff complement one another. I also subscribe to Poker Pro, which I like a lot too. All three have equally valuable different perspectives and "feels". CP tends to be more objective, very journalistic, while the other two come from more of a human interest orientation. If I were forced to pick, however, I would have to choose Card Player because I think that magazine corners the market for strategy and technique.

I've been subscribing to Bluff for a while but I won a subscription to Bluff last year and I like it but I feel like there really isn't any strategy in it most of the time, just a bunch of articles about what poker players are up to(like Phil Laak's articles always seem like he is just trying to crank through it just to make a deadline filling up with random stuff just to fill space.) I think once my free subscription to Bluff is over I will start up with CP or PP, will have to check again once the time comes.

I subscribe to both Bluff and Cardsplayer. For the longest time I would of told you that I preferred Bluff. But it seems like in the past year or so that CardPlayer has been more helpful with strategies and theory. Bluff I believe is more entertaining and seems to give you more of the lifestyle and glamour of poker. To be honest I like both and will continue to get both. I believe that their cost is somewhere between $20 to $30 for a years subscrition.

re: poker magazines I've got a subscription to WPT and pick up Bluff now and again. Is PokerPlayer still going? Had a subscription to that which ran out and I never renewed. Good mag, but just doubling up on what I'd already read in WPT... My WPT subscription is £12 - £1 per issue. Not bad since its £3 a go in the shops!

If $$ is an issue check their websites to see how much content you get off there without paying a dime. You might be surprised. You also might be surprised about how many issues of each are published each year. Card Player might cost more but it's every two weeks http://www.bluffmagazine.com/ http://www.pokerpromagazine.com/ http://www.cardplayer.com/ http://www.pokerplayer.co.uk/ http://www.womanpokerplayer.com/ http://www.pokerplayernewspaper.com/

Also, if you're going to get a subscription, I highly suggest going through a discount mag site. For example, 1 year through cardplayer.com is $40, going through http://www.discountmags.com/product/4433/card-player it is $20. I get all of my mags through discount sites.
