Need a few seconds

Firstly Id like to say Hi to all members of this forum as this is my first post.

Secondly im not sure whether this is allowed so if it isnt I appologise in advance to the Forum and Admins.

Ok now to my reason for posting. I work for a startup in europe and are hoping to launch a Poker site ( Not sure what variations of poker it will have not whether it will be free or money play ).

As we are starting out hope people will help me and answer some questions for me . If we ever get going and launch a money site I will in term offer this forum and its members a nice juicy freeroll .

first question is about the type of software . When it comes to poker software/rooms do you prefer a download client or do you prefer play direct from browser/no download rooms.

Also let me know as to your thoughts ( why you like the one you like , whether you play only on download client sites or whether you play on no download /play direct from browser rooms and why )

Thanks for you time

First off, welcome to the forum. You've found a great forum to ask your questions. There are a lot of experience players here that will be able to answer your questions and help out.

As far as forum rules go, you haven't broken any. You aren't spamming or promoting a commercial site in any way. When it doesn finally come to that point, I'd suggest you should PM Nick directly to get a personal variance granted for site posting. He's done it before, so working out the details with him should be easy (overall he's a good guy/bloke, just don't tell him I said so...I have a reputation to uphold).

As far as the poker client itself, personally I prefer a thick client that resides on my computer. While security isn't really an issue for either way, the general perception is that thick client is typically more secure (which I realize isn't necessarily true, but perception is reality). Also, with a thick client, you have all of the files on hand in case you want to play with pictures, etc used by the software (but within site TOS, of course ).

Finally, as you attempt to come into the poker market and look for an underlying network, don't make the huge mistake of picking a network that refuses to allow US players. Not only will you cut into your own profits by not being able to accept US players, but you will also not very popular amoung some of the membership here when you come back with that "juicy freeroll" and contributors can't play in it.

Thick client every time. It's faster, you have far more control over how it handles disconnects. You save yourself a support nightmare trying to get all these differnet IE clients working on it.

It's also far more secure, there are a lot of viruses out there that can catch passwords in web browsers. I would much rather see a well designed secure client with two way authentication & encryption.

It also uses a whole lot less bandwidth, which in the long run should reduce your running costs.

Most definitely a download client! In this day and age, they're a cinch to download, and they add so much speed, features, and security, etc, that they're a must! I essentially won't play at a non-download site.
