| NBC Heads-Up Championship SPOILERS-DO NOT READ IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW! Seidel Wins NBC Heads-Up Title Erik Seidel’s incredible year continues to get even better after he bested a field of 64 players to beat Chris Moneymaker heads-up to win $750,000 in the 2011 NBC National Heads Up Poker Championship. Seidel has been in stunning form this year and this win takes him ahead of Daniel Negreanu to take first place in earnings on the all-time tournament leaderboard. So far this year, Seidel has earned close to $4.5 million in just over two months, a truly incredible feat. This event is his third major event as well as making six final tables. Eight hopefuls came back in the final day hoping to take down the title. Olivier Busquet faced World Series of Poker 2010 main event champion Jonathan Duhamel and was bested by him, while David Oppenheim was beat by Moneymaker. Youngster Andrew Robl beat Frenchman David Benyamine in the third quarter final and Seidel beat the last woman standing Vanessa Selbst. With 4 remaining, three World Series bracelet holders stood among them and two of those would advance to the final. Seidel beat out Andrew Robl, who was looking to win his first major career title and he was joined on the rail by Jonathan Duhamel. Chris Moneymaker advanced to the finals securing $300,000 his biggest payday since 2003. Moneymaker won the World Series of Poker back in 2003 after winning a $40 satellite on PokerStars and was the man largely credited for the poker boom. He would face the aforementioned Seidel, runner-up to Johnny Chan in the 1988 World Series of Poker main event. The final is a best-of-three match and in the end Seidel came out on top. He was in stunning form and Moneymaker never really got going. Eventually when it all went in, Moneymaker found himself drawing dead by the turn, leaving him with $300,000 and Seidel left with the trophy and $750,000. This is his second final in this championship in a row after coming 2nd last year to Annie Duke. |

Plus there's a hell of a lot of matches to cover, especially in the early rounds, and they pretty much have to show the elimination hands (which are obviously all in). That doesn't leave time for lots else. As for Seidel winning, I totally picked it - see the other thread |

Edit: Hope that didn't come across as me sounding like an a*hole, just an FYI. |
