My PokerStars Career Shall Begin

As some of you may know, PokerStars has just given me $5.00 I will gladly except their $5.00, and not blow it on some $5 SNG/MTT.
After recieving this $5.00, I am now at a grand total of $5.50 (the extra $0.50 coming from leftovers of a $6.00 stake by a friend).
I am going to try and build a PokerStars bankroll out of the $5.50 that I have.
I plan to play cash games only, no MTTs or STTs. I will start at the micro tables ($0.01/$0.02), and work my way up using proper bankroll management. I guess it is just like philthy's $2 challenge, except for the fact that I am playing cash games exclusively, and do not have a back up bankroll just in case I run out.
I will keep track of my progress in my signature.

I have 1 question. What should be my goal for the end of February (1 month)?

good luck my friend i will be cheering you on! I would say 50 bucks by the end of one month would be feasible, yet challenging.

with 5.50 i dont think u should be playing 1c-2c nl
1/5th of bankroll at the table at any given time
maybe u should try 2c-4cnl and buy in for 10BB
ur goal should be something in the range of 20 to 25 $

I woiuld say if you can avoid the donks and all the bad players you will run into and still have a few bucks that would be a worthy accomplishment

I received the $5.00 because I had not yet deposited into PokerStars. I guess they sent me the $5.00 to get me to play a little, and maybe consider depositing some money onto the site. I am not falling for it though!

Good luck! You'll need a bit of it to start out with. But, it's surely doable to inch your BR higher so that you'll be able to get out of the .01/.02's and get a chance to play some MTT's and Sngs, and increase it exponentially.

Well, this is just fine and dandy! I take $5 of my $5.62 bankroll to a $0.01/$0.02 NLHE table. I proceed to lose all of it in one hand. All in pre flop QQ<AQ (spiked an A on the flop). I am now sitting on a whopping $0.62 cents, and not able to buy-in to even the lowest cash game. Looks like I will have to break my challenge and play the $0.50 tourney which starts in approximately 1/2 hour. Sigh. Wish me luck!

That was back a while ago. A friend lent me $6.00 on PokerStars. I used $5.50 of that on a tournament hosted by one of the CC members here, a friendly little game. I lost within the first 30 minutes or so, leaving myself with a whopping $0.50 bankroll. Yesterday was the first time I visited my PokerStars account since that tournament, and I found that PokerStars had given me $5.00. Leaving me with a $5.50 bankroll. The rest is history.

Well, I didn't do proper BR but here is what I did:

.25/.50 LHE

$5 to $20, sent $12 back to friend, $8 to $50 same day, next day $50 to $100. Then it kind of stayed around $100, going up and down $15 or so.

It really isn't that hard, just a lot of patience and some luck.

Proper bankroll management with $5 = useless beyond belief in my opinion.

Oh and with $0.62 go to .02/.04 LHE. I made $20 from $0.25 there last time.

You obviously cannot use proper bankroll management with a $5.00 bankroll. What I meant was I will have to play out of my bankroll in the beginning, but I will only be able to move up stakes when and if I reach the 5% rule on the next stake up. If that doesn't make any sense to you, then just let me know.

You have to have been there and then left without closing your account for a while. I moved all of my money out of absolute to Ultimatebet and after several months Absolute gave me $5 to come back. It is now $15.17. I play every once in a while when I don't want to risk any sdignificant money.
