Was playing $1 and $2 NL at a poker room when I ran into an interesting spot. I was able to limp in from the BB with 7s8c with 3 players behind me in the hand. Flop comes out Qd 7d 8s. I open for $12 with my 2 pair and get one caller (the player in the seat left of me). The turn is a 2d (not a great card but I didnt think he was on the diamond draw). Assuming I was still ahead I bet 20. He then, without any hesitation, shoves all his chips in. He had slightly over 60 after matching my 20. Well I now think I misread him. All I could figure now was he hit a small flush and was forcing me out of the hand for fear of a 4th diamond on the river. Was getting roughly 1to1 on a call and figured I only had 6 outs....I cant call....after thinking for about 30 or so seconds I was about to flick my hand in the muck when he flashes me the Ad and tells me to fold.............Why would you flash the Ad? Why would you want someone to fold when you have the nuts? I do not give the player enough credit to goat me in like that and I now think he does not have a flush. So at best he has a pair with the nut draw. There is no way I can fold now.
So I end up calling and sure enough he has the nut draw with no other pair or draw. River blanks and I scoop the pot....horray! Its funny how I was a split second away from folding and a quick flash earns me a ~200 dollar pot. Hope this was interesting to someone besides me. =D
