| Heads Up Question Is it considered bad etiquette to get up and leave after winning? I have only played twice and both times did very well. I've been playing 2/4 NL and won 700 and 1,100 within 40 minutes both times. In a live homegame it pisses guys off when you just get up and go but is it the same online? |

| Does it piss some people off, probably very likely that it does. But that said, that is the name of the game. You are trying to win money. If you say win a $300 pot the first hand with AA vs KK and then leave, yea, you will be very unliked, but if you are playing for 30-50 minutes and are ahead, there is nothing wrong leaving then. |

| It doesn't matter, what do you care about correct etiquette in this case? You're trying to win money, if that means you play one hand and have AA against KK and double and leave that's your full right. It can be done to you and you can do it to people, that's one of the things about online poker. Maybe you will be consider a hit and runner by that person, but you probably will never play against them again, and if you do then so what? The point of poker is to win money, however you can, don't worry about it. |

| In a couple cash games around me you have to announce you're leaving 1/2 hour before. Not sure if there's some kind of penalty(not sure they could do anything to you but not invite you back) but it's just a rule everyone follows. |

| re: Heads Up Question poker Quote:
Live is a little trickier, both the homegames you mention and at casinos. Where I play if you get that reputation among the regulars you'll find that over time you won't get much action when you have a hand. I would just hang around for a while and play uber tight. Who knows, your heater might continue. A lot of pros advocate staying put when you are on a roll, They say if you leave you'll never know how much more money you could have won. I'm hardly a pro so I prefer a more subtle hit-skip approach. I look at my profit and set a definite stop-loss amount. I only do this if I know I'm going to being playing these same people week after week. For example, to use your numbers, if I was up 700 I might play for a while longer and leave when I got down to 675 or so. If anyone grumbles I just make light of it by saying I've donated plenty of money to everyone else's cause so I'm going to be smart for once and get out of Dodge now while I'm ahead. Humor usually helps to diffuse anger. One time I did this a guy who had been really pissed came up to me later and (sort of) apologized. He said he wished he had that kind of discipline. |

| Your villain will hunt you down and break your mouse! I asked a similar question recently when I asked about rat holing (taking your winnings off the table), and I was told the proper way to do it was to hit the Leave Table button.......... I laughed but the message sunk in. Even if you got a reputation as a 1 shot, hit and run artist, it is not an image you should worry about. Folks will seldom be able to tell who you are and do anything about it if they are sitting there waiting and you fill the table. If you start a table and sit there waiting, experienced players may look u up and avoid you, but you didn't want them anyway, you want the fish who will sit down at what he sees as an ego contest. Don't worry about it. |

| In online games there is not so much of a set etiquette, some people dont have much time to play anyways and only want to sit down for 20 mins and play a couple hands, so in that case... go ahead get that loot and shady bounce, just dont be doing that at any live games |

| re: Heads Up Question poker Hmm sounds like it could belong in the bragging section. After all, it doesn't apply online because the tables get closed pretty quick after tournaments finish. And ring games have no etiquette anyway, it's just come and go. The only time it would matter would be in private games, and then you get to chat after in the forums. |

| I think a good way to play is leave when you're on tilt and have a stop-loss method. When you're on Tilt, you're going to play bad. Just that simple. Stop-Loss: If you're not on tilt and the guy isn't "getting lucky", then the guy better than you and is just out playing you. Know how to minimize your losses. |

| Hit and run is really effective and I'd even call it part of a strategy...uncool for the losing player, but like "camping" in most First Person Shooters: It's allowed, very effective and hated by many, but if you like it go ahead and do it... most people do it if not high stakes where the same people are playing together frequently.(If they do it on that stakes people hate 'em, but who cares) |

| I always am polite & compliment the other player if I win & if I lose. I don't care who they are, you can't hurt anyone by being nice. On another note, I won my Gals v Guys HU last night against Bryan24...he's a very good player & I feel fortunate to have won for the gals!! WOOT! This seems to be one game I win fairly well!!!
