| Frustrating table So playing $0.05/0.10 PLO 6 ring at bodog last night had good run to start and up about $7, then after about 50 hands cards just went dead on me. I wasn't making my draws and getting bad starting cards 9 out of 10 hands. I had to tighten way up and couldn't get any money when I had a good hand because everyone would fold. So I got to steal a couple of blinds and made 2 profitable bluffs which helped the hemorage. The stupid thing was these guys were playing crap hands with 2 pair winning on a 4 card straight board with 3 callers! The table devolved into a skittish mix of stupid LAG play and nit play. I actually won with a pair of nines on a 4 card flush table with 3 other callers, in PLO! I just wasn't sure how to play these guys because a bet either lead to folds all around or re-raise after re-raise, I just couldn't get a handle on their play, couple of tight one lag and 2 others who I couldn't get a feel for, plus the turnover which brought an all new unknown every 10 minutes. So my question is when you aren't getting good hands and your drawing hands aren't making on the flop should you just quit and come back later when your potential profit in so low or neg expectiation? | Yeah, I do believe in runs/streaks, at least on bodog. The cards don't have memory nor does the program thats why there are streaks. I'll play 50 hands and make the nuts 5 times, the next 300 I make the nuts once with a streak of 100 hands that don't make better than 2 pair, in PLO the cards matter just as much as the play. Like I said it was just that the table was so neurotic switching from super tight with one LAG to super loose and back and forth. I am not really explaining very well it was just a weird table that I felt "uncomfortable" at, lots of weird plays and multiway pots that made no sense for these guys to be in. I was able to make a couple of bluffs with ziltch or a small 2 pair it's just that these guys seemed sooo bad that you couldn't put them on any ranges or get a feel for their play so I really needed to make either the nits or second nuts to have any kind of a comfort zone, and when the 4 card straights and double paired A's or K's aren't making squat but an over pair it's hard to stay at such a table. |

I've been on PLO tables like this before, and while it can be frustrating when you look at the results, just ignore the actual outcome of the showdown and realize that they are paying you off with bottom two-pair or worse hands in PLO! As long as you are playing with a proper bankroll (25+ buyins or so), you need to get used to the swings in PLO because the game tends to be higher variance than Hold 'Em. |
