| Bad Poker Etiquette? In this hand, the player has 65c left on the river and I bet 64c... I am playing a hand I know I am going to win (pretty certain) and I have my opponent committed. I will bet enough to put him almost all in but leave him with a cent. Is this just a mean thing to do? It's kind of like Ceasar destroying an army of 20,000 then leaving 800. |

| We shouldn't be thinking in terms of "mean" or "nice" when it comes to betting. We should be thinking about profit. That being said, when bet sizing a probable winner, we could ask, "What size bet would our opponent have trouble folding to here?" If we want to mess with their heads, offer them difficult decisions. That's kinda mean... |

| Like PattyR and midget said, doesn't make sense in this situation at all. I do make bets like that, when my hand isn't as solid as yours was. A lot of times when I want my opponent to think before they call, instead of just punching that magical all in button. I do it to mess with a lot of people too. Especially in HU play. I also will bet amounts leaving myself with one chip, just so people don't see all in. It forces them to think a bit. IMO. |

To bolda3's comment, this is the funny part, I can't understand why anybody just calls in this situation but for some reason it happens often enough lol. I would always fire in the last cent in the other guys situation. |

If the victim has no BR, the remaining chip is their ONE chip. Having one chip doesn't mean you have to leave a cash table, nor does it mean you 'must' reload. Whether ring, stt or mtt, a double up, doubled up (or more) repeatedly still rebuilds a stack. Guess my original comment was more Karma intensive than chip intensive .... sheesh.... |
