If you are cash, I know alot will disagree but I would say .02/05 nl. 01/02 hurts my head, I have tried. If you are a tourney player I can offer no advise as I am seriously losing at those, lol |

If u are a good cash player with previous experience, play 0.05/0.10( Before joining any cash table, i advice you to at least watch 20 to 25 hands before sitting in) If u are a beginner with no previous xp,---dont play, but watch 0.05/0.10 cash games for some days and then play 0.05/0.10 and follow strict bankroll Mgnt.If u make it to 100$, u can try 0.10/0.20...If u fall back to 25$ or less, go to 0.02/0.04 If u are a MTT/SnG player, play 1$ buyin( below 700 entrants) games till u hit 100$, then shift to 2$ buyin games....If u get below 25$, stick to 1$ buyin only but play only 180 man SNG( cause in 180Man Sng u will atelast get to learn some things about "tournament phase playing" even if lose ur bucks.... and also theres a good chance of making ITM...On the other hand 90,45 man sngs will give u less learning xp, while 360 man sng will reduce ur ITM making chances) Finally, i would use that 50$ In MTTs rather than cash....cause in cash games, its important for you to select a ideal cash table( by looking up statistics), and there are few other aspects which u need to watchout before sitting in... Tell me(by PM) how it goes if u are taking up this advice...I am sure this will profit u. Good day and good luck !!! Last edited by spiderman637 : 9th April 2011 at 3:57 AM.

re: $50 poker Here's something u might wanna check. Building from a baby bankroll Very good thread by OZExorcist that answers lot of your questions. And as CCers posted, it's dependant on what you're good at. It makes no sense for you to sit down at ring games 100bb when your forte is sng/mtts and vice versa. Whatever you choose, STICK to it. Have good brm. Don't tilt. Easier said than done but those are the simple advices I can give for now. Good luck.

Well, I've played most of my early poker experience on ring game type tables and just recently I began giving sit & go's a try...and I feel like i'm not really going anywhere. If playing 2cents/5cent or 5cents/10cents, What kind of a buyin should I be looking at ? And should I multi-table or just play on one table?

I'm more of a tourney player and I suggest that you play SNG's from anywhere from $1.10-$2.25. At the cash table I would also suggest that you play the 2/5c tables unless you have the patience to play with the super donks at the 1/2c tables. Whatever you decide to do I wish you the best of luck.

re: $50 poker It would really depend on what you like to play..Also the site your playing on...Only reason I state site is for the simple reason Pokerstars has games all the way down to .10 while other sites Minimum have $1 so it really does depend on that... Best advice I can give you is to really Grind the Smaller limits until you have a Number of hands in that limit+Profit, so If for Mtt's say you must play 1k of the lowest buyins and show a Profit over that many number of Mtt's, If for Cash same rule apply, and Sngs Same thing

personally, I go by the 5%, 2% rule designed by Chris Ferguson because it allows much more BR safety. It states: don't put more than 5% of your bankroll on any ring table or STSNG, and in NL ring games you must always buy in for 50 BB or more. So, in this fact I would be playing .02/.05 NL and buy in for 2.50. or play 2.20-2.50 STSNG's. The 2% is that you should never put more than 2% of your roll in a MTT. This BRM technique seems to have much lower swings and is safer on your bankroll. There is also the 10% rule, which states never put more than 10% of your BR on any one table or tourney. With this one you can win more, but you will also decrease your bankroll faster when you go on a bad run. So I guess the choice is yours. Good luck on the felt, virtual and B&M

re: $50 poker Like the above poster, I also subscribe to the Chris Ferguson school of bankroll management - the 5% and 2% rule. Personally, I find the low limit cash games pretty difficult to beat because you just can't legislate for what some people will do when they're not bothered about losing a pretty small buy in. I think I'd prefer the SnGs if I was starting out with $50.

So according to the advice I'm getting, would my best bet be to continue sweating it out in the sit & go's until i build a considerable bankroll? How much should i build on the sit & go's, before I can move up into the cash games....or even higher sit & go's?
