2 Tournament Questions When I know someone is trying to steal my blinds and I want to play back at them with a raise, what is the proper amount to raise? Also, when stealing the blinds isn't working, what are other ways to stay ahead of the always increasing blinds?

if you know they are stealing blinds i would min raise. if they call, fire off a big bet on flop if u miss flop as a bluff. if you make a strong hand, check and hope they bet. as far as staying ahead of increasing blinds, if u cant win a hand by connecting with the board, i would bluff some all ins.

Stick to your standard 3 bet amount. If you suddenly min raise 3 bet as a bluff, people will notice. Of course, it won't always work. Sometimes in tournaments you simply have to take a chance with trash if the hands aren't coming to keep your head above water. As I said, it won't always work but in my view the times it does outweigh the times it doesn't.

Like JohnBoy was saying, you at least have to give it a go all in if you're short stacked and getting crap cards. If you sit on a short stack and never shove, you're just going to keep going downhill. You have to shove eventually or you're not going to get very far in the tourney

| re: 2 Tournament Questions poker If I am short stacked I will I play only in the big/small blinds in most cases I am would do as suggested above take a chance with going all in with suited connectors, premium hands, and high pairs, no it does not always work for me it does work more times than not. Don't be so quick to just call or check if you have strong cards or sometimes not so strong go with a sizable raise (2-3x big blind) sometimes this works well when in big blind position as well. | [quote=kyndlyon;1634643]if you know they are stealing blinds i would min raise.< why change up re-raise size here & why make it an amount that they'll be priced in to call with (if we're hoping they'll fold)? if they call, fire off a big bet on flop if u miss flop as a bluff. if you make a strong hand, check and hope they bet. If we've taken the initiative preflop.... aren't we going to be betting with practically our entire range in all cases? Wouldn't a 'check' here look weird? I mean > aren't they expecting us to bet practically all the time? quote] Enjoyed the post though. It helps me to make more sense out of stuff I'll often see as 'making no sense'. |
