studying your own sessions

I do this but not as often as I should (though I have been a whole lot more often lately). I also get the feeling I could do a better job of it when I do.

So..I thought I'd throw a general question out there. When you study your own sessions, what is your general approach to it? What software do you use (pokertracker, pokerstove, etc)? Any general tips on this topic?

I know that's a pretty general question but I don't really have a more specific one...basically just looking to get people to share tips on this topic.

I don't use any software. I just check the hands that won/lost me the most money. I also (while I'm playing) cut & paste interesting hands into notepad, and post 'em for analysis. Hard to do when I'm playing 9 tables of full ring, but when I'm playing 6 max I can usually find time to cut out the interesting stuff.

I've pretty much been opening the HH in notepad for each table I sit at and just looking through each hand that I played in to see what happened. It's really easy to sit there after the fact and consider every option, consider the reasoning and lack of reasoning for every action. I just reviewed 2 of my own sessions and posted them. The problem I have seems to be getting REALLY in depth on the hands, instead of just summarizing what happened. It's like I need to get in the mood/mental zone for analyzing otherwise I can't come up with anything.
