Wanted: Advanced Skill Level Poker Players

...was the title of a posting on my local CraigsList site. I have not included the link to this as not to spam, and don't contact me since I'm not the OP of this. I'm wondering what this may be about. Do you think someone would blatently advertise for what may amount to collusion? I can't imagine why else they would "compensate players just for having cards dealt to them."

Note: Again, I am not the OP, and I will not provide a link if requested.

They're called prop players. They're paid to keep tables open and keep the action going.

Small sites sometimes make deals with players to fill seats. That is, they get paid a percentage of the rake to play at short tables.
The kicker is that if the table starts to fill you have to leave and sit at another short seated table.

You're basically paid to attract people to tables and keep them playing. It's not a bad deal if you can get it.

Zachvah has made that very clear, thank you

I was just wondering if it was a scam for collusion, but the (other) responses help me understand.

You play with your own money, not theirs, so every time you have to reload your account they don't charge you as much. It may sound like a good idea at first but think about it for a bit and consider the situations you'd be stuck in all the time. Now do you see why they offer redeposits at a discount?

Why is my link being "mod-ed?" You don't download poker sites from there, so cc isn't losing any business. We post links to "commercial" sites like pokertracker all the time-- they are poker RESOURCES: sharing them with each other is what a forum is supposed to be about, no?

Wonder why your post with a link disappeared - strange... maybe Nick's intending to move into the propping market in the near future!

re: Wanted: Advanced Skill Level Poker Players

I was thinking that the whole 'prop players' plan was a bad idea. Who is to say that the website is not just scamming the prop players?

Kind of like those 'accept credit card payments' programs where they also set you up with a 'money generating website'. They charge like $3,000 for the equipment, monthly fees and also get a percentage of each transaction.

The scam is that you'll never sell anything from the website but they will make thousands off of you for the equipment which can be found elsewhere for about $500.
