are US players getting the bad beat of the world

it seems crazy that we suffer just because our government hasen't figured out a way that they can properly tax internet gambling so they can suck that dry too. It seems that all these little sites are more than willing to accept US players but from what i can see most of them are either frauds or they fold within the first 2 months of being up.

sure i play at the big 3 but something new for us would be nice too

The problem as I see it isn't that the haven't figured out the taxation. It's that they are

1) AGAINST GAMBLING - and by they I mean the republicans.

2) Probably protecting the special interests that lobby them - Vegas, Indian Casinos etc. (I don't know this as fact but I think it likely.)

If you are reading this now, Barney Frank - My Great House representative from Massachusetts is introducing a bill on Tuesday that will try and repeal teh UIGEA provisions against poker. He takes thesmart line that it's the government forcing banks to do the work (which hurts our productivity economicaly) and that UIGEA should only conver sports betting, which is what the old wire acts cover.

If you feel strong about this, go to the ppa website- it'll tell you what you can do (poker players alliance)

I think we might be nearing a chance here. Barney's last bill almot made it out of committee- it actually got a tie vote - essentially down party poker lines.

There are a number of sites that allow US players that are neither frauds nor in fear of folding up. Poker Stars, Fulltilt, Bodog, and Carbon poker to name a few

As Cowboy states above there are a decent amount of reputable sites out there accepting US Players (see the US Poker Sites page for a solid list).

As a matter of fact, although the legislation situation totally sucks, it's not nearly as bad as it could be. If UIGEA was properly enforced and/or written in a proper way, the Government has power to enforce filtering of poker sites at ISP-level. So basically you wouldn't even be able to visit the poker sites if you are from the US (a bit like the situation in China and their national firewall).
