WPT and Women in Poker Hall of Fame Gear Up for a December to Remember

The World Poker Tour is celebrating women players with its $200K guaranteed Ladies Championship that will be held at the Wynn next month. That’s the biggest prize guarantee for a ladies event in history, and the tourney will be filmed for broadcast across WPT’s platforms.

It’s all part of a big December at the Wynn for the WPT, which will wrap up its 20th season with the WPT World Championship Festival, a 23-event series running Dec. 1-19. The headliner is the $10,400 $15 million guaranteed event that starts on Dec. 12 — and if that prize pool sounds big, it’s because it’s the largest guarantee in live poker tournament history.

The $1,100 Ladies Championship takes place in conjunction with events scheduled around the Women in Poker Hall of Fame induction celebration, which starts Tuesday, Dec. 13, with its own $360 championship at Resorts World. The induction ceremony takes place Dec. 14.

The three-day WPT Ladies Championship starts Friday, Dec. 16, at 11 a.m.

Joining forces

The WPT, the Ladies International Poker Series (LIPS), and the Women’s Poker Association (WPA) already gave away a handful of $1,100 entries into the Ladies Event at women’s event across the country, through online drawings, and satellites, but there are still chances to get into the tournament for a discount.

An entry will be given away on WPT.com Sunday, Nov. 27, in a tournament celebrating Angelica Hael’s induction into the WiPHoF. She joins Vanessa Selbt, Terry King, and Jennifer Tilly

Hael, WPT’s Vice President of Global Tour Management, will have a bounty of an entry on her head.

An entry will also be won at two tournaments that are scheduled as part of the WiPHoF celebration week. The $180 event at Resorts World on Dec. 14, will have bounties on the heads of current HOF members, and one of them will be worth an entry, courtesy of the WPA.

The winner of the WiPHoF $360 Championship will also get an entry in WPT’s Ladies Championship, also thanks to the WPA. They’ll also win a trophy and a custom-made necklace by Tiera Fox.

Satellites for the ladies

Women who plan on playing both the $1,100 WPT Ladies Event and the WiPHoF’s $360 Championship have a chance to get in both for a discount thanks to three satellites that will be held at the Venetian over the next three Saturdays.

The $200 sats takes place noon Nov. 26, Dec. 3, and Dec. 10. One in ten players will win $1,600 cash and entry into both the events, as well as a $60 ticket for the WiPHoF brunch Dec. 14.

A $200 satellite to the WPT Ladies Championship will be held on Dec. 15, at the Wynn.

There will also be plenty of chances for women to play against each other that week. On Dec. 17,  a WPT Ladies Meet-Up Game will take place at the Wynn Poker Room. Hosted by Jamie Kerstetter, $1/2 and $2/5 No Limit Hold’em tables will be spread. Kerstetter will be joined by WPT Anchor Lynn Gilmartin and professional players Xuan Liu and Ashley Sleeth.

The WiPHoF will also hold more events, including its $200 “last chance” tourney on Dec. 17, at 3 p.m., at Resorts World. Check the rest of the schedule here.

The final table of the WPT Ladies Championship takes place Sunday, Dec. 18. The WiPHoF encourages its members to show up at the taping and cheer the women on.
