The World Poker Tour is fresh off a successful event at the Venetian in Las Vegas, and now will soon head to the Sunshine State for the April 23 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown. In the meantime, the long-awaited final tables remaining from 2020 will soon take place.

The global health pandemic forced the cancelation of many WPT events last year. In three instances, final tables were held back more than a year due to COVID-19.

Last week, the PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas finally hosted one of those unfinished events — the $10,000 Gardens Poker Championship. Markus Gonsalves shipped the tournament for $554,495. Qing Liu, who won the WPT Venetian event the day before, finished in sixth place and nearly pulled off one of the greatest accomplishments in tournament poker history.

The World Poker Tour has now released the dates for the two remaining unfinished final tables. On May 16, the $3,500 Borgata Winter Poker Open, which originally began in Jan. 2020, will finish up. Brian Altman, who will jump back into first place in the WPT Player of the Year standings, will compete at the final table, his third final table appearance of the season. He’s shooting for his third career WPT title.

On May 17, also at the PokerGO Studio, the prestigious $10,000 LA Poker Classic final table will run, 15 months after it began. The remaining six players are all chasing the $1,015,000 first-place prize. Upeshka De Silva, who reached the 2020 WSOP Main Event final table, is among the competitors. James Carroll is also at the table and seeking his third World Poker Tour crown.

World Poker Tour Goes to Hollywood (Florida)

Up next for the World Poker Tour is a trip to Hollywood, Florida, and the Seminole Hard Rock Casino Hotel, home to one of the top poker rooms out in the eastern part of the United States.

The event in question is the $3,500 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown. Day 1A begins on April 23, and Day 1B on the 24th. Play will conclude on April 27 when the tournament reaches its final six players. Those individuals will take a break and then travel across the country to Las Vegas for the final table on May 18.

The 2020 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown, was canceled due to COVID-19.
