Baker is a two-time WSOP bracelet winner and the 2019 WPT LA Poker Classic champion. In total, he has more than $5 million in live tournament cashes. Gregorich, the author of 52 Tips for Texas Hold’em Poker, is also an accomplished poker player. He has 70 cashes in bracelet events, but is still looking for his first WSOP title.

The two poker pros teamed together to compete in the top NFL football betting contests in the world, and showed the gambling community they’re skilled at more than just poker.

Sweating Out the Final Week of the Westgate SuperContest

The Westgate SuperContest is a $1,500 buy-in sports betting competition that began in the fall. It ran through the NFL’s Week 17, which took place this past weekend. Each team picks five NFL games against the spread each week. One point is awarded for wins and half a point for games that end in a push.

Baker and Gregorich chose the team name “ODBMG” and entered the final week in the lead at 53.5 points. Right behind them was “YUGO77” at 53 points. In third place, “CAPENJ” came into Week 17 with 50 points and would have needed a miracle to win.

With first place paying $435,000 and $100,000 to second place, the poker pros had quite the sweat on their hands. They also had a sweat in the Circa Sports Million II Pro Football Contest, which paid $1 million to its winner and $300,000 to the runner-up. In that contest, they were also in the lead by just a half-point.

They were unable to hold on at Circa and tied for second place. They received a $400,000 chopped pot ($200,000 each). Over at the Westgate SuperContest, they shipped the $435,000, narrowly holding on in the end.

“Thank you for all the fun sweat messages. What an exciting run it was. So happy to win!” Baker wrote on Twitter.
