Like its peers, the fledging tour was forced to cancel a number of events in 2020 and 2021. In fact, Triton Jeju, which was scheduled to take place in February 2020, was one of the first major events cancelled due to COVID.

However, with normality returning and restrictions lifting, Triton’s tournament series will return to Cyprus seven months after hosting its first Super High Roller Bowl Europe there.

Super High Roller Series Europe returns to Cyprus

The second Super High Roller Series in Europe will, once again, take place at Merit Royal Hotel & Casino. There will be four tournaments running from April 2 to 7, with buy-ins ranging from $50,000 to $125,000.

In true Triton fashion, there will be a mix of popular events on the schedule. As well six and eight-handed No Limit Hold’em events, there will be two Short Deck tournaments, which will be welcome news for Triton regulars.

Triton Super High Roller Series Europe

  • April 2 – Event #1: $50,000 No Limit Hold’em Six-Max (two-day event)
  • April 3 – Event #2: $100,000 No Limit Hold’em Eight-Max (two-day event)
  • April 5 – Event #3: $75,000 Short Deck (two-day event)
  • April 6 – Event #4: $125,000 Short Deck (two-day event)

Short Deck Hold’em first gained popularity in Triton’s cash games. Businessmen, such as Richard, Yong and poker pros like Tom Dwan wanted a way to generate more action. As such, they removed all cards between 2 and 5 from the deck.

The reduced deck means it’s harder to make a flush than a full house. What’s more, hand equites are a lot closer than regular Hold’em. This makes Short Deck a more action-packed game that appeals to wealthy amateurs and poker pros.

Triton Poker Tour continues to raise its game

Short Deck quickly became popular online after Triton introduced it to the masses in 2018. With its popularity now set, Triton will give everyone more of what they want when its tournament bandwagon rolls into Cyprus.

Triton isn’t famed for offering satellites because its events are aimed at poker’s highest rollers. However, the masses can still watch the first Triton Poker Tour event in April via the company’s YouTube and Twitch channels.
