PokerStars Wraps Up Special Events for Team Online Week

4 min read

This past week PokerStars is celebrated its Team Online Week with several fun and exciting events and announcements. PokerStars ran the even this past week, concluding on November 3, with fans and team members partaking in Team Online Week events. Not only did the week provide a way to familiarize players with the team, it allowed them to test team members to win cash prizes and more.

Two New Additions to the Team

PokerStars already has members such as Isaac Haxton, Mickey ‘mement_mori’ Petersen, and Randy ‘nanonoko’ Lew as a part of their official player team. For Team Online Week, two new members were brought into the fold with Alex ‘Kanu7’ Millar and Marc-Andre ‘FrenchDawg’ Ladouceur. Millar is a British high-stakes player and seen as one of the top No Limit Hold’em experts in the world. Willing to take on any player, Millar got his start building a bankroll while studying Mechanical Engineering at Warwick University.

Ladouceur has been a Supernova Elite high-stakes player since 2010 but also owns a nightclub. The French Canadian has had great success in tournaments including good runs during two World Series of Poker Main Events. PokerStars has also extended the opportunity for other Supernova and Supernova Elite VIP players to join Team Online. So those who think they have the chops should definitely take the chance and prove their mettle.

New Film Festival Videos for Team PokerStars Online

PokerStars.tv is home to several short films that feature profiles on their talented Team Online members. Currently, videos featuring members such as Shane ‘Shaniac’ Schleger and Grzegorz ‘DaWarsaw’ Mikielewicz are available for viewing. These short documentaries run around eight to ten minutes and profile members of the Team. They show the ups and downs of the members’ career and often discuss how they rose to fame, advice for others and more.

During Team Online Week, four more of these short films were released at the dedicated PokerStars YouTube channel. Featuring Mickey Petersen, Jorge Limon, Isaac Haxton and George Lind, these films will provide a glance into the lives of these members at and away from the virtual tables.

Set Sail on a Caribbean Adventure

What good is a film festival if there isn’t a healthy dose of competition and the chance for prizes? Players are able to submit their own short film telling the story about their own personal life in poker. One winner will be chosen to win a PokerStars Caribbean Adventure package that is worth $15,000. Team PokerStars Online will choose the winner and an extra $500 can be won by the directors who create the most impressive works. Videos can be submitted by uploading them to YouTube and then e-mailing PokerStars with the link.

More Special Challenges and Events

During the Team Online Week, each team member took part in a one-hour Zoom poker session with the general player pool. The session was a special $0.02/$0.04 game and players that made a profit against a Team Online member won ten times the profit as a cash reward. That’s definitely a sure-fire way to have some fun with skilled players and make some cash too, although ten times the amount won at penny stakes might just be enough to buy a fancy sandwich or a pack of frilly toothpicks.

Finally, a $25,000 Team Online Freeroll takes place today, on November 3. Players have a chance to win a share of the prize. Tickets to the Freeroll can be obtained by making a real money deposit before the tournament starts just by using the bonus code ‘TEAMONLINE’. While it’s great to see PokerStars celebrating the success of their online team, it’s even better to see the great ways that other players can be involved in the fun.
