CardsChat’s Chris Robinson Still In PokerStars Players No Limit Hold’em Championship, Winner to Get $4 Million

The numbers are in and it’s official, the 2023 PokerStars Players No Limit Hold’em Championship (PSPC) is one of the biggest $25,000 tournaments in history.

The registration desks at Baha Mar closed yesterday. When the entry fees had been counted, the official number of entrants tipped the scale at 1,014. That’s a shade less than 2019’s total but still enough to create a $24,843,000 prizepool.

That’s impressive, whichever way you slice it. For context, the winner of this year’s PokerStars Players No Limit Hold’em Championship will take home $4,053,200. That’s more than the 2022 WSOP Main Event third-place-finisher, Michael Duek, won.

PokerStars Players No Limit Hold’em Championship stats

  • Entries: 1,014
  • Platinum Pass winners: 400+
  • Prizepool: $24,843,000
  • Places paid: 175
  • Min. cash: $35,100
  • Top prize: $4,053,200

The PSPC buy-in is higher than the WSOP Main Event, but the 175 players who make the money will have got through significantly fewer opponents. That’s the power of a $25,000 buy-in when you’re able to attract as many players as PokerStars does.

With the prizepool just short of $25 million, 175 players will lock up $35,100. That might not change a pro’s life, but it could make the world of difference to a Platinum Pass winner. 97 Platinum Pass winners made it through to Day 3, including CardsChat member Chris Robinson.

CardsChat caught up with CRStals on Day 2. He told us that finding a spot was tough due a lack of cards and the table dynamics. The good news, however, was that he had 16 big blinds at the time. That meant a few well-timed moves could put him back into contention.

Robinson bided his time and, as he tweeted last night, the “dream is still alive.” Our community hero made it to Day 3. He needs a double up, but the point is he made it through and moved closer to a minimum cash of $35,000.

Everyone at CardsChat is rooting for Chris Robinson as he takes to the felt for round three of the PokerStars Players No Limit Hold’em Championship.
