Event #1 of the high-stakes series gets underway today at the Aria Resort & Casino, Las Vegas. The $10,000 tournament will play out over two days, with the final being shown live across PokerGo’s online channels on Wednesday.

The 2021 Poker Masters features 12 tournaments, including a $100,000 Main Event. Anyone who cashes in an event will earn ranking points that could help them win the newly named Guaranteed Rate Player of the Year trophy. And, as is customary, the top performer of the series will win the Poker Masters Purple Jacket.

The other change to this year’s Poker Masters is that it’s back in its natural home of the Aria Resort & Casino. COVID-19 restrictions in 2020 forced the organizers to join the scores of poker tours offering their products online Hosting the series on Partypoker last year meant PokerGo could keep the action going in the face of international lockdowns. It also allowed the organizers to give the schedule a boost and offer 30 events instead of 12.

Ali Imsirovic was among famous names picking up titles last year, but Alexandros Kolonias was the most consistent performer of all. The Greek grinder’s run of 11 cashes included two outright wins. What’s more, his performance netted him $1.2 million in prize money and the Poker Masters Purple Jacket.

This year, the series reverts to 12 live tournaments, which will run from Sept. 7 to Sept. 19.
