The start of April put a close to the first quarter of 2018 and presented a good opportunity to take a look back at March online poker winners and losers. Ben “Sauce123” Sulsky found himself atop one leaderboard, while “BERRI SWEET” graced the other.

Some Loeliger Love

According to HighStakesDB, no one did better in March online poker cash games than Ben “Sauce123” Sulsky, who won $264,686 in 4,561 hands over 35 sessions on PokerStars. That gave him an average win of $58.03 per hand.

In the biggest pot of the month, which didn’t involve Sulsky, it was heads-up action at a $200/$400 no-limit hold’em table between Jonas “OtB_RedBaron” Mols ($78,712.85) and Timofey “Trueteller” Kuznetsov ($171,173.26) on Monday, March 12.

It began when Mols limped holding the K♦K♠ and Kuznetsov raised to $3,200 with the A♦A♣. Mols limp-raised to $9,800, Kuznetsov made it $26,600, and Mols moved all in. Kuznetsov called and the cooler resulted in a $157,425.70 pot.

The duo agreed to run it twice, and much to the dismay of Kuznetsov, two bad beats were in store. Both the 3♥K♣4♣2♦6♠ first runout and the 6♥K♥9♦7♥3♠ second one delivered Mols a king, and he scooped the pot.

It was also another good month for Linus “LLinusLLove” Loeliger, who was February’s biggest online poker winner with $262,854. He nearly matched that in March winning $241,490 in 10,001 hands over 147 sessions. Loeliger is currently 2018’s biggest online winner up $569,135 in 26,756 hands spread across 399 sessions.

In his biggest pot of the month, Kuznetsov ($68,690.29) raised to $1,100 holding the Q♣7♣ and then called when Loeliger ($72,602.71) three-bet to $4,200 holding the A♥Q♦. The 5♣J♦A♠ flop saw Loeliger lead out for $2,009.07 and Kuznetsov call to see the A♣ turn.

Loeliger bet $7,443.99 with trips, Kuznetsov called with his flush draw, and the 9♦ completed the board on the river. Loeliger bet again, this time $18,020.06, and then called when Kuznetsov bluffed by moving all in for $55,037.23. Ship the $137,380.58 pot to Loeliger.

Sitting just behind him on the yearly leaderboard are “JayP-AA” ($316,630 in 136 sessions/15,354 hands) and Alexander “joiso” Kostritsyn ($291,585 in 108 sessions/9,269 hands).

Bad Month for “BERRI SWEET”

On the other end of the spectrum, no one lost more in March online poker than “BERRI SWEET,” who lost the $150,658 he won last month and then some. He dropped $347,149 in 6,749 hands over 80 sessions for an average loss of $51.44 per hand.

Another big loser was Viktor “Isildur1” Blom, who lost $229,949 in 10,028 hands over 101 sessions. That put Blom down $318,570 on the year, which makes him the second biggest online loser in 2018.

In one big pot he lost, Blom ($62,154.25) was playing heads-up $200/$400 pot-limit Omaha against “AmSoGood” ($52,514.50). “AmSoGood”, who held the A♣9♦9♠J♠, raised the button to $1,200 and then called when Blom, who held the Q♣K♣Q♦3♥, made it $3,600 to go.

When the flop came down Q♥5♠10♣, Blom bet $4,800 with top set and “AmSoGood” called with his open-ended straight draw. On the 6♦ turn, Blom bet $12,800 and “AmSoGood” called to see the 8♥.

Blom checked and then called when “AmSoGood,” who made his nut straight, moved all in for $31,314.50. With that, Blom watched the $105,029 pot pushed to his opponent.

The only player doing worse than him is “ImagineKing,” who lost $85,542 in March. That put him down $762,061 (305 sessions/24,622 hands) in the first three months of the year.
