Kardashian Sisters Play Charity Poker Tourney with Phil Hellmuth in LA

3 min read

For the first time in possibly ever, Phil Hellmuth wasn’t the biggest diva in a poker tournament he took part in. The Kardashian sisters, perhaps the definition of reality-TV-famous, competed in the City of Hope charity event at the Forum in Los Angeles (former home of the Lakers), and as you might expect, their presence created some drama that had little to do with how Kim or Khloe or anyone played Ace-King.

Hellmuth and television and film producer Randall Emmett hosted and emceed the charity tournament and helped raise money for City of Hope, a leading cancer research hospital. The event brought out the Hollywood personalities and brought in more than $500,000 for a good cause.

It also brought the Kardashians to the table to try their hand at no-limit Texas Hold’em.

Celebs Steal Show

But it wasn’t Hellmuth who was the star of this show. The three Kardashian sisters – Khloe, Kim, and Kendall Jenner – competed in the poker tournament, posed for pictures, and encouraged guests to donate money to City of Hope.

The Kardashians are most known for their long-time reality TV show, “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.” They originally became famous for being the daughters of Robert Kardashian, the now deceased friend and former lawyer for OJ Simpson. If not for the “Juice” allegedly killing his ex-wife and her friend in 1994, it’s possible the world never would have met the Kardashian family.

Poker also had its stars in attendance with a Hellmuth, Emmett, Ryan Feldman, and Brandon Cantu competing.

Those card sharks were joined by the three Kardashian sisters, their mother Kris Jenner, the ex-wife of former Olympian Bruce Jenner (aka Caitlyn Jenner), and dozens of fans of the celebrities.

There was no standard prize pool in this charity tournament. Instead, lucky winners received gifts such as front row seats to see the Eagles in concert at the Forum or a set of Callaway golf clubs. Sponsors donated up to $50,000 for a private tournament table and some paid up to $7,500 to be seated at a table with a Kardashian.

Leaving Baby at Home

Being a celebrity has its perks but also its drawbacks, namely a lack of privacy. And when a Kardashian goes out in public, drama often ensues. In most cases with this attention-craving family, the drama is self-inflicted, but that wasn’t the case this time around.

Khloe Kardashian’s presence at the poker tournament caused some hubbub on social media, with the new mom leaving her child at home while she played poker in Las Vegas, which not surprisingly led some self-proclaimed parental experts on Twitter and Instagram to question her priorities.

Also not surprisingly, Khloe fired back.

Who would’ve guessed Kardashian Twitter could look so much like Poker Twitter but without the poker?
