GGPoker isn’t messing around. The up-and-coming poker site is set to host next month what will be the largest online poker series in history, and is guaranteeing $100 million in prize pool money from May 3-31.

Online poker around the world is booming more than normal in recent weeks due to COVID-19. With millions stuck at home to stay safe, many have turned to internet poker to pass the time.

GGPoker is taking advantage of the opportunity as it attempts to compete with PokerStars. Not only did the poker site hire Daniel Negreanu, the long-time face of PokerStars. The company has more recently hired tennis star Boris Becker and another former PokerStars ambassador, Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier. And in about a week, the growing poker site will host a historic online poker series.

GGPoker is the Place to Be in May

On May 3, GGPoker will kick off a 29-day series that will break a world record. The internet poker site guarantees at least $100 million in prize money throughout the 595 events, most in online poker history.

Among those tournaments includes 18 WSOP Circuit ring events, the first a $1,111 buy-in Covid Charity tournament that features a $1 million guaranteed prize pool on May 3. Of that $1,111 buy-in, $111 will be donated to Nevada’s COVID-19 Task Force. Winners of the WSOP events will earn the same Circuit rings awarded at live Circuit series tournaments, and also bucket loads of cash, of course.

The WSOP Super Circuit Online Series is highlighted by a $1,000 Main Event beginning May 10, with $5 million guaranteed. High-stakes pros will enjoy the $25,000 High Roller Championship that has $10 million guaranteed, running May 17.

GGPoker is certainly taking a shot here by guaranteeing so much money for one series. But it just might pay off big time if the players turn out in droves, as is expected. The series could draw some attention away from other poker sites.

GGPoker isn’t available in the US, however. So, American players won’t have an opportunity to compete in the history online poker series. But if you live in Nevada or New Jersey, WSOP.com is currently offering some large guarantees as well.
