The World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE), hoping to continue to piggyback on the success of the summer series in Las Vegas, is sweetening the Main Event pot and topping out the champion’s take at over a million dollars.

When the WSOPE gets underway on October 19, players from round around the world will descend on King’s Casino, Rozvadov, in the Czech Republic, in search of 11 bracelets and at least €20 million ($23 million) in prize money.

King’s Casino owner and high stakes poker player Leon Tsoukernik has announced the Main Event prizepool will be increased to €1 million ($1.1 million).

Interest Inspires Bigger Prizepool

Reportedly encouraged by the number of early registrations for the $12,200 WSOP Main Event, Tsoukernik and the organizers are pushing up the overall guarantee from $4.7 million to $5.9 million as well. The move will push the total series prizepool beyond the $23 million mark.

With the WSOP in Las Vegas breaking records in multiple events, the organizers have every right to be optimistic about the 2017 WSOPE. In fact, with the Series’ $10,000 Main Event attracting the third- largest field ever, there’s a clear appetite for major events from the poker community.

Tsoukernik has also reported that 90 $13,000 deposits have already been collected for the High Roller for One Drop. Despite the $13,200 event not taking place until November 3, it looks as though the 111 player cap will be easily reached way before then.

888 On Board Abroad

This will all be good news for the WSOPE, King’s Casino and the festival’s recent sponsor, 888poker. Having enjoyed a successful partnership during the 2017 WSOP, the tournament provider and 888poker will join forces once again to provide branding, coverage, and online satellites to the European event.

As well as bringing more eyes to the festival, 888poker’s involvement should help encourage more low stakes players to join the mix through a network of online satellites and freerolls. Overall, with an increased Main Event guarantee and a stream of qualifiers, the organizers will be hoping the 2017 edition of the WSOPE will be the biggest ever.
