The BetMGM Poker Championship is heading back to ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas for the second year in a row and, this time, the guarantee has been doubled.

Capitalizing on the tournament fever that takes hold in Sin City over the summer months, the 2023 BetMGM Poker Championship will run from June 9 to 13.

The success of last year’s $3,500 event means the organizers are going one better this summer. In fact, they’re going $1 million better by upping the guarantee to $2 million, which means this year’s top prize is likely to be worth upwards of $300,000.

BetMGM Poker Championship is back bigger than before

As well as increasing the guarantee, BetMGM Poker will be giving at least 100 qualifiers a seat in the tournament. Low-stakes satellites will be available to online poker players in the US and Canada via BetMGM’s licensed platforms in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Ontario.

“It’s great to bring BetMGM players back to Las Vegas during one of poker’s most exciting times of the year. For a second straight year, ARIA is delivering a Championship event and we are happy to continue to build on our relationship with MGM Resorts, while connecting BetMGM online players to the best poker rooms in the United States,” said Luke Staudenmaier, Director of Poker at BetMGM.

Online qualifiers get a seat in the $3,500 BetMGM Poker Championship main event, as well as these extras:

  • Entry into the BetMGM Poker Championship $800 mystery bounty event
  • Money to cover travel expenses
  • A six-night stay at ARIA Resort & Casino

In addition to the prize package, qualifiers have the chance to play against some of poker’s top tournament pros inside the PokerGO Studio. As noted in the March 21 press release, the 2023 BetMGM Poker Championship final table will be streamed live from the PokerGO Studio on June 13.

Another summer sizzler for poker players

Joey Weissman won the inaugural BetMGM Poker Championship in 2022. The American pro came through a field of 343 entrants to win the title and $224,236.

An improved guarantee and more satellites should help push the total number of entries above last year’s total. Something else working in the event’s favor is the amount of action available in Las Vegas from May to July.

When the $3,500 BetMGM Poker Championship gets underway, the WSOP will be in full swing. Add to this the allure of the Wynn Summer Classic and Venetian DeepStack Championship, and Sin City will be buzzing with tournament action.

With thousands of poker players in town for the summer schedule, the BetMGM Championship will be another option for those hunting six-figure payouts. Indeed, with more prize money than last year, the 2023 event should have a strong turnout. That means we could see it become a summer staple over the next few years.
