The exclusive partnership was announced on National Fortune Cookie Day and marks the latest innovation from the US-facing poker site. In a press release announcing the deal, Americas Cardroom said it will be giving fortune cookie eaters in the US a chance to play for $1 million worth of prizes.

Americas Cardroom making fortune cookies even sweeter

OpenFortune is a media company that distributes branded content inside fortune cookies. Working with companies such as Coca-Cola, Disney, and Capital One, it creates slips of paper that contain promotional content and QR codes. These pieces are paper are put inside fortune cookies and sent out to Chinese restaurants across the US. To date, OpenFortune has distributed more than one billion branded cookies.

In partnership with Americas Cardroom, OpenFortune has sent out millions of lucky fortune cookies to 21,000 restaurants in the US. Anyone who gets an Americas Cardroom cookie will find a lucky number on the front and a QR code on the back of the fortune slip. The QR code links to a special promotional page where a player can use their lucky number to play for special prizes.

Americas Cardroom has set aside $1 million in cash, or the equivalent amount in Bitcoin, for this promotion. The most interesting aspect of this promotion, however, is its delivery. Poker marketing departments are always looking for creative ways to promote things, but none have used fortune cookies before.

OpenFortune partnership is innovative twist

Partypoker partnered with Formula 1 team McLaren and its driver, Daniel Ricciardo this year. Connecting poker and racing is something out of the ordinary and, thus, a chance to engage with new demographics. But it’s not so different from PokerStars working with soccer players.

The idea of promoting a poker site inside fortune cookies is completely different. In fact, it’s something we don’t believe has ever been done before. Whether it’s a stroke of genius or a left-field idea that will have little impact, the promotion is a testament to the momentum Americas Cardroom has right now.

This year alone, it’s hosted another record-breaking Venom and the third incarnation of its Venom PKO starts this week. In addition to breaking records, Americas Cardroom signed Chris Moneymaker and Vanessa Kade in 2021.

The site is on a roll by all accounts, and the fortune cookie promotion smacks of confidence and a willingness to try something different.
