I live in between 4 casinos that are within 1.5 hour drives from my home and one of them hosts a WSOPC event. At the same time the WSOPC event will happen, the other casinos will be running Guaranteed prize tourneys. So I'm thinking I'll go play the Guarantees while other players in the area are drawn over to the WSOPC event, and hopefully I'll find a big overlay with fewer players on hand.

I've only recently started playing in the area so I don't have any experience to say if my theory will hold up. Does anyone else live in a similar situation, and have you witnessed whether this is likely to happen?

Thanks:jd4:

Unfortunately in my area the WSOPC is held where the Guaranteed tournaments are also held lol However I don't think this would be true, because poker players are greedy. If they see better value in the guarantee they will play that. The circuit is fun and it's nice to get a ring but I'm sure they will sniff out the better value. What is the guarantee on the tourney you are referring too? and I'm guessing you are talking about the former $365 now $400 buy ins not the circuit main?

Memphisgrind, a couple $10k and a $50k. Yes, the 400’s would be the likely competition, but they run satellites to the main at those times also. I’ve heard players at the host site blame low room attendance on an event that was happening at one of the other sites, so I’m hoping the opposite will be true.

Thanks :jd4:

What are the buy ins to the 10k and 50k?

$160 and $390.

the WSOPC is better value so I don't think you have anything to worry about. Our 50K's at my local casino are $165 buy ins and they compete with the WSOPC but those will probably have an overlay due to the circuit. All depends too how many your location Averages in the circuit events and how many players your 10K's and 50K's normally average. We average around 1000 entries into our 50k's and only 300 in the circuit

I'm in a similar spot now, I used to be in Memphis Grinds position where all of my choices where in one building, but now if I am going to a casino I have to decide which one to go to.

I used to live in WV and could walk to the Hollywood casino, now I live in MD and have to travel a bit to get to either MD Live or MGM.

By "better value" do you mean higher prize pool compared to the buy-in?

By "those" I'm understanding you to mean the guaranteed tourneys that I'm considering, correct?

I don't know how many players the 50k draws usually. It is a monthly tourney and I have only been tracking tourneys in the area for a few weeks. I imagine the numbers hit somewhere near what it takes to meet the guarantee, as do the smaller guarantees at that location.

You've been a great help.

Yea, all prizes, chance of making a profit compared to buy in. Basically which tournament are you getting more out of for your money. This is all things weighted in the choice while picking a schedule.
