Fairly new to playing poker and was curious as to which theory or game strategy people advise to use to get the best results in a MTT and where’s the best place to go to study/learn the ins and out of that theory?

If you are new to poker, the CC 30 day course under "poker strategy" will give you a good allround foundation for competing in micro or low stakes tournaments. If you want to progress further into medium and high stakes games, this is the time, where paid training sites like Upswing Poker have their biggest merit.

Early on it can almost be a disadvantage to learn to advanced GTO strategies, because these are usually not the most effective against the mix of fish and bad regs, you are actually going to encounter in your games. So my advice is to learn the basics of the game first and a more traditional exploitative style like the one, Collin and Katie teach in their course.

online poker, as opposed to live poker, often leads to social problems. Players spend a lot of time alone, in front of a computer screen. That is why poker fans are usually looking for like-minded people with great enthusiasm - on specialized sites and forums, groups on VKontakte and Facebook, conferences on Skype and WhatsApp chats. Having poker buddies also helps you level up your game faster. As in any young field of knowledge, in poker, books are usually out of date even before they are published, and many fruitful ideas are passed by word of mouth. If in a company you admit that you are fond of poker, then you will definitely hear a scary story about a relative / friend / colleague who lost everything and ended up badly. But if the opinion of casual acquaintances can be neglected, then it is important to convince your loved ones that you are not a gambler and are not going to take furniture out of the apartment tomorrow. A poker educational program, after which your new hobby will become more loyal, is often vital.
