I've been playing a lot of freeroll and micro stakes and I see many players going allin 50bb+ with strong hands, in certain situations I do it myself and most of the time I'm ahead or flipping, the resulting variance can come to hamper my performance as I have much game up to itm?

I think you need to know that the players left to act are at least capable of calling off light ie AT, 22 etc. If they are not capable of calling you light you will get called by better hands or they will fold and you will miss out on a ton of value. This is really something that you probably only want to do in freerolls, because the higher up you play the less likely they are to call off light- deep.

50+BB shoves are LOL, don't try and understand it. Cheap tourneys have an immense amount of poker novices and they really don't know what is going on and don't care to get better with their play. Most of these players are not winners and never will be; they are folks looking to piss away some time.

Yeah there is no rhyme or reason when they do that. Don't wast your time trying to figure it out, Just stack them.

Shoving with 50 bigs when the blinds are so small really makes no sense.
Fold and wait for better spots IMHO...

You semi-pointed out the reason you might be experiencing or noticing this. In micro stakes, and especially in freerolls, there is little on the line, so players are more willing to play freely, poorly, and just do things just because. That's why in an early game it's usually ideal to play even tighter when you see players shoving big early unless you have a good hand to start.

It obviously depends on, how much is in the pot already. If I open to 2,5BB from UTG, 3 guys call me, and now BTN squeeze to 14BB, then I would also be jamming most of the hands, I want to continue with, for 50BB. If you are talking about open jamming for 50BB, then thats obviously not a standard strategy, and it wont work well against good players. But I have more than once seen someone open jam for 50BB and get called by the most ridiculous hands like A5 or QJ. And if the player, who jammed, then have AA or KK, his play actually worked perfect. So the biggest idiots are not people doing this but people calling them to wide ;)

Players pushing 50 bb are clearly in a hurry somewhere. They are not interested in the game process. It's like a casino for them with a difference of 50% that they will win and 50% that they will lose. Go all-in at the beginning of the tournament with any hands, and then go to sleep earlier. Here is their strategy.

As mentioned before, it is recommended to play tight in the first few levels, playing only high or middle cards (and also suited A-K, A-Q and A-J). Remember that there is nothing wrong with playing passively in the early stages of the freeroll - it is likely that you will not be able to break many pots, but this will allow you to save your own chips, which will be useful to you at a later stage in the tournament. We recommend that you only overclock the pots after you know for sure that you have a really good game. So, starting at the fourth level, the player should expand his range and add a little aggression to his play style. Of course, all pairs can be added to the range:eek:ffsuit A-K, A-Q, A-J, A-10 suited and unsuited pictures such as K-Q, Q-J and J-10and for pushing with such a big stack, I would even fold AK. only three premium hands are suitable for this - AA KK QQ with others it is better not to risk it
