Hey, I apologise in advance if this is the wrong section, complete forum noob here...

I play sit n go tournaments on pokerstars and I am sure I'm not a bad poker player, however, I feel the downswings I have been having are not justified. It seems like from 2 months ago when I won a few 360's I can't even place anymore.

I'm playing super tight and in position but it seems even when I play strong hands like QQs and AKs I'm getting beaten pretty much 9/10 ... people are beating me with all in calls with Q 7.. now I know this is standard micro stakes but even so..

So back to the question is there any significant difference between the different poker sites or am I just experiencing a justified downswing and need to relax and play on..

Thanks for reading..

stars is generally the hardest player pool to beat on all sites. but if you have played enough volume there are likely leaks you will need to work on (there always are)

888 is pretty soft, i have no idea if they have 360mans or similar or if they even run. But the STT hypers are really soft if you can put up with the crappy ass software.

STT = Single Table Tournament

888 doesn't have much of a field for mttsng's (non-scheduled mtt's), I think stars is probably the only place I can think of your going to find like 180/360 mans or at least only place they would run.

Titan I am not completely sure but like 888 its going to be softer than stars, but hec everything is considering stars has the most traffic it will have some tougher competition in general but can certainly be quite fishy at times also.

Nice... I think I will try 888 then. I just downloaded it, they have a no deposit free £12. Will get it in 48 hours or something and let you know.

Yeah maybe I'll come back to stars when I've played a couple more years..

What do you mean by downswings are justified? Nobody has the right to to think they should run well or run bad, variance is what it is just learn to accept it. Even if you feel you make the correct decision 100% of the time, don't think this should justify you winning money in the short term.

Where are you plugging this 9/10 losing with QQ/AK from etc? It sounds like you're having selective memory or it could just well be small samples being a big factor, variance in poker especially MTT SnG's turbos with 360 players are INSANE.

Now I've played these games before myself and they are probably once of the easier of bankroll builders out there if you are putting in some volume. I quickly learned though that given how quickly 90man/45man tables load it would probably much better to play these games because you can get 10+ running after 5mins and just constantly reload when you bust easily playing 100+ games a day and just watching your roll grow. Getting sucked out on just holds true to this statement about how soft the games are. I'd suggest posting hands and spots you're not 100% sure off. I mean you can continue grinding though and feel you're getting bad beats and not winning in spots often but there's a very good chance you a making mistakes. IE: Folding way to much when stacks get smaller because to be profitable at this game you need to be shoving much, much wider and calling wider than AK/QQ+.

I have to point out changing sites will make no difference, especially when it comes to 10c games. As you have already noticed players are so bad that they are easily profitable enough, there is only a downside to moving to a different site playing these game, you just aren't going to get in enough volume and the SnG's will load so so much slower that it's going to take you forever to build up your roll.

Just grind on through it, post hands and put in volume. Within one month after a few 1000's games you could be at $5+ stakes without much of a sweat.

Agree with this statement as a whole but don't think it applies to 360man 10c games, only where stakes get to $5+ you could switch site for softer competition just not sure with how much volume you can get in though on other sites if it would be worth it to have easier players.

Of course 100% agree with the leaks part, I think in general people don't shove anywhere near wide enough in these games and just feel with him commenting on his AK/QQ+ hands losing he's probably playing way way to tight.

Okay, so what I have got from this is (and the previous post) :

1. Try 45/90s and play volume and build.
2. Getting sucked out means for the most part the competition is weak.
3. Accept Variance
4. Post hands I've played badly to understand why I lose these hands.
5. Play looser with AK/QQ+
6. Stick to stars until I have the BR and EXP to play $5 stakes, then potentially move to take advantage of a weaker field on another site.

I appreciate the criticisms, thanks... I will most definitely take all this into account.

Titan part of the ipoker network is very soft for both cash and MTTs

Cheers !! I will take that in consideration... might stick Stars out and then move when I've built my BR enough to make it worth while.

Maybe mixing sites can be an option for you as well? MTTSNGs are, correct me if I'm wrong, one of the worst gametypes in terms of finding traffic for outside of Stars. So, you could probably do Stars and one or two more sites to help you get enough volume

I always liked the larger S&G's at Full Tilt. You can even get a decent group of players on your table that makes it that more of a challenge. Carbon is not too bad either.
I know just how good and bad my abillities are but even I used to be in the money fairly regularly even had a back to back win once.
Since my return to poker, I am trying to stick with freerolls and not invest any of my own money.
Good luck with your quest for a better site.

I play on Pokerstars and Fulltilt both SNG and MTT. Personally I think the best 2 rooms,I've played on the 888 and PKR also are not bad but I did not adapt very well.

I will take that into consideration, 888 has a free no deposit needed£12 at the moment so I'll play that then probably download fulltilt! I need to see for myself exactly which ones for me. Thanks.

Thanks for the advice. I think I'm going to stick stars out and then 888. After that thought I will definitely try tilt out, seems like people like it!.

Good luck to you too!!!

I think that's what I'm going to try. Pretty much stick it out with stars as you say, just probably play 45/90s instead of 180/360s... I will also play 888 (as I've downloaded it already) see if there is actually a significant enough difference to forfeit the high traffic in stars.

Thanks for the advice,

For S&G, there is reasonable traffic on fulltiltpoker and party poker.
Both have a bit less reg and so easier pool (depends on stakes).

Traffic there is reasonable, you should not have issues to open couple of tables on micro/low limits. But if you need high multitabling, then PokerStars is house of the day.

I don't even know if I should say this because it can only hurt me. But sngs on carbon are ridiculously soft.

888 Poker is definitively softest pokersite with bigger field of players together with partypoker. But their software is just so bad. You can consider Titan Poker. I think they have great rakeback (compared to others) and field of players is still softer than PS.

yeahh i am going to continue playing stars.. I was just being a noob about why I wasn't winning so obviously blamed it on the site. I will try a few others though when I have built my BR..especially as I'm just about to bust out after my first $10 deposit.
