@64 spades
I read this and I couldnt stop laughing. I am so sorry, but thanks I needed that!
It's a straight because you were playing 6+ Hold'em also known as Short Deck Hold'em.
The 2's thru 5's have been removed from the deck.
In this game the Ace can play as a 5 or as a high Ace.
On the hand that beat you the Ace was the low end of the straight and played as a 5.
The hand rankings are like regular hold em except 3 of a kind beats a straight
AND
a Flush beats a Full House (the Asian variant is different, always check the rules first)
Because of the removed cards the Flush is harder to get. Pursuing straight draws will actually get you hurt in this game.
The starting
hands have different
equity than standard Hold'em. This game is designed to take Hold'em players money much like Omaha was.
