I think this is a good move, although the difference is not big, but with this money you can freely play many tournaments according to your bankroll, especially if you do not play abi 55 $ though it's not so easy to do this either) share how you did it?
Went all in with rags hoping for a call;)
Interesting strategy, but don't you always play to win? I understand that you want cash at some point, but wouldn't it be wiser to play the tournament that you intend to play? Completely understand it from BRM view.
This time the cash equivalent was almost the same, tho I may have done the same for $40, the tourney tic was for the next day and I didn’t want to commit my whole afternoon, that’s happened in the past and real life messes with the game

Has anyone else done this?
I’ve done it twice recently
The other day was for $53 cash instead of a $55 ticket
Tho I love big buyins (cuz I know a big win must be coming my way, and this was a PKO my fav) my bankroll was much happier with the money and will keep me playing many more games👍

I always consider it when the money for the cashing is quite close to the ticket price. Especially if the time of the tournament won't necessarily be convenient.

I agree. I've done this a few times, myself.

I never did that, maybe because I never needed to, my goal when I play satellite is to enter the main tournament and win more than the buy in value

Hello! :ciao:
I think it depends on what is more valuable for the player: someone is more important than a ticket to a major tournament, and someone is winning here and now. I rarely play tournaments where tickets are the prize.:)

When I am in a similar situation I do the same, unless it is a small buyin tournament, although normally in those situations there are two or three players who do the same or at least I have had that luck:jd4::jd4::jd4::jd4:

In satellites, you do not need to strive for first place. The task is only to reach the prize zone.A good strategy when playing satellites is to try to get a big stack early on.Winning money instead of a ticket is,l think, the right tactic of the game.

I also played satellites with the intention of winning money instead of tickets. And sometimes I was lucky in this.

Yes Most of the time I don't have the time, the energy or the desire to play in a long tourney so I would take the cash

I have never lost on purpose but I have never shed any tears when I bubbled for the cash either.

I have not done it on purpose yet, but I have finished in the money instead of with the ticket or seat and it did not bother me one little bit. I would absolutely consider doing that on purpose though. Like all things in poker there are so many different circumstances involved in that decision.

Great post and question!!!
