If you are going to try to play live tournaments, what do you think is a good size buy in for the first time? I was thinking anywhere from 75 to 100... What do you think?

A good rule of thumb is to limit your buy-in to a maximum of 10% of your bankroll.

Make sure you have enough time for that field size. Live games take longer than they do online. Might try a smaller field for first one and move up from there.

I think your picking a good starting amount. You may want to look at the tournaments in that range and the structure they have to make a better decision. I have seen in the same casino starting stack at $75ish start with 10K and 15 minute levels yes a 100 ish buy in have 20K starting stack and 20 minute levels. With just these small difference it make it very worth while to go slightly higher. Just make sure you play only with what you can afford to lose.
