This is a discussion on How often do you cash in MTTs? within the online poker forums, in the Tournament Poker section; I've been crunching some numbers on my play statistics that I keep.
What I've found is that I cash in 16.42% of the tournaments that
This is not a total or completely accurate count, but I've been playing the same types of tournaments frequently (they're on demand games so I can join them whenever I know I have at least 2-2.5 hours available since that's how long these events usually take if I make it to the end), and I've cashed in 8 of the 13 events I played. Since these are lower stakes games, there is definitely an element of donk-style play and a lot of lucky breaks involved, but I've been pleased with my overall play in these MTTs and feel confident in these events specifically that I can finish ITM more times than not. Once I feel comfortable and successful at this level and type of event, that's when I'll consider moving onto others.
The last few weeks Iíve cashed in close to 30% of the MTTs Iíve played. Unfortunately they have mostly been min-mid cashes. The tournaments have gotten so huge itís tough to get high. I played one today and finished 307/9500 and only tripled my buy in.
