How to get the most chips from other players when you have a monster hand
I just want to learn some strategies for getting the most chips possible when i have the strongest hand. I want to be able to know what im going to do with my strong hand right away instead of tanking and trying to figure it out after the fact. I do trapping which works half the time and also making them think im bluffing with my huge bet but that only works with smarter players. A couple times today i had 3 of a kind or str8's and i couldnt get anyone to put there chips in or try to bluff the pot atleast because i somehow gave away i had a big hand so I have to fix that soon if I want to get that big stack I need to make it to the end of the tournament. thanks to anyone taking the time to read this.
you can always check and bet... but it always depends on your hand as it might be the strongest on the flop but gets cracked on the river.
given what you said, if you hit a 3 of a kind, most would have had raised pre hand. again it depends on the flop, if there is no threat of your strongest hand being cracked eg. possible flush. then I would either bet small or check. If there is then you need to bet, at least if everyone folds then you win the decent pot. I find if sometimes I bet small I get reraised, so that might work in your favour.
Also, a bit of luck, and a lot of people bluff and get aggressive in middle stages. so you might triple up with your strongest hand.
it can be near impossible to "force" a showdown short of checking all the way to the river.
Many tight players simply refuse to put chips into the pot if they "blank" and resign to folding at the first bet. I myself will do this at various stages of a tourney, especially if im in the BB and get to see the flop for free. I constantly remind myself, I have 0 invested (because you cant prevent the BB from hitting you), so why invest more in a losing situation.
Betting is the only way for you to grow a pot, and it can be hard to get people to "follow along" when they have no showdown value/arent drawing at anything.
to learn poker really will have to play it as long as possible money or freeroll, it's very important to learn erarhia hands and to have an odds calculator handy, just so you will be able to advance. The idea is to respect each step and learn the game preflop and post flop. you should not develop a loose game because you have to be a fish that will be watched by everyone to take your money. You need to choose one target every day and you touch every day a new one. GL

It also happens that, unfortunately, each hand is a different hand from the other. That is, there will not be a magic secret, each hand must be analyzed.
The classic is, depending on your position you can take advantage of your opponent, try a check first, then put chips, or just wait, the all-in is not always a good request, because in the vast majority of times do not beat Letters to all! Waiting for an opponent's bluff is also interesting (especially after seeing a high card on the board).
Analyze, as they play, take a few strokes and stop earning a little more and see their reaction to "knowing" your game! =D
Hmmm. this could be a long reply but Ill shorten it .
first you have to know what you have done in your hands prior to that hand, what your opponents or opponents have done up to that point.
The most important thing is what you have done in that hand that could give them a clue as to what you may have done different that would be suspicious. If you dont bet when you normally bet if you hit , size of your bet changes or not , ECT...
Using this information and now you can figure out against your opponent what you might be able to do to get max value out him/ her
Ive seen so many people get so happy they push players off hands and never get extra chips because they had a hand no one could beat and they shove all in to only see the others fold and he is so happy he couldnt see he lost chips. big hands like them dont come often enough so we need to capitalize on them as much as possible .
one thing I will do if i am not sure is Ill give the opponent 4 or 5 to 1
if he is a math player at least getting a call and with a little luck he may go over to see where he is and you get more. never check on river if you have the goods to see if he will bet most of the time they will check to see your hand if they think you might have it .
good skill at the tables
Its Not What You Have But What They Think You Have :)
The style for extracting chips depends on alot of factors. Board texture, position, and your opponents holdings all effect their willingness to put chips in.
Bet sizing (so you dont scare off your opponent) is also important.
Many times there will simply be no way to extra chips with a monster, as your opponents played a speculative hand that cant improve with the board.
The trick is to play consistently, so when you do get a fish "on the hook" you know how to manipulate their perception. Making them think your weak, can embolden someone to bet with middle pair. Checking the turn sometimes indicates a draw (only do this with the nuts, because if they are drawing it can bite you to give them a free card)
Everything depends on the type of opponent you are facing if you are a very paying player it is best not to bet very hard to try to get as many chips as possible, while with a very tight player it is very difficult to get many chips if you do not get Nothing on the flop, also depends on what is on the flop if you face 2 or 3 players and the flop brings several draws most likely that some try to complete and pay but it is also advisable to bet strong to protect your hand
re: Poker & How to get the most chips from other players when you have a monster hand
If it's a super monster hand on the flop , like a complete full house ,I can slow play it . If I have raised before I make cbet, it's easier . So to trap them it has to do with the board texture and your previous image .
Some players have low VPIP and PFR and suddenlly you can't just start raising cause they won't pay you, they have memory and god damn HUDs , so you have to keep a right image on the table , not too loose like some who pot bet all the time , bet 2xbb or 2.5bb , limp not so much , but not be too ultra tight .
That way they gonna trust you as a active player , not nit but TAG or semi loose , so they will pay you .Watch for the texture of the board , to have sth that draws for the opponent , the sth that could be the second (third, etc) nuts hand either on the flop or (by checking and giving him the chance to see a free card ) on the turn . Then start betting . If you have bet preflop, the flop helps you , you can cbet, if not , then on the turn , big or small , depends on the community cards and V's teddencies imo and if second best has improved or not on turn or river .
If you have limped things are more difficult ,if he raised you , you wait him to lead bet on flop , if not , raise on flop or turn according to the same rules as explained before . If he has raised preflop and you have called (without limping) , you can call on flop , and try on the turn to take the lead . Position matters to make him think your trying to steal pot on the turn (if he was the initial raiser ) or for value on the river .
All these apply if you have a very strong hand , but if it is not so strong , it can be altered which is the one thyt is the strongest on the turn ,then you must make a bet on the river , either he is probable to call or not , to protect your hand , etc . Don't think , oh , better slow play it , especially if he has position , to make him believe that he can bluff me . If he doesn't call on the flop , he would't call anyways anything , so this hand wouldn't have given to you any value at any way , proceed to the next one imo . I used to slow play , trying to set traps , I was just giving the chance to V to catch his free magic unique out to win me and make me furious Good Luck .
my strategy is about adapting ,so we have here 2 situation :first one is that you re fresh at table and here i recomand you to do as many of members above just wrote . And then ,secound situation when you not new at the table and this step is much important cuz here you must know at least a bit of your opponents moves so it depend of you and you re analise how profitable you ll get (there you ll know if is a flip table tha probably u must get agresive & even allin preflop).
If you hit a nice flop combinations I mean full house or flush , then I suggest to you to play with check , and if he raise you will have two options to call or to re-raise.
If you play with call flop , then I suggest to you to play check , and if he raise , and the card on the flop didn't change anything , then is better to play with call , and if he continue to bet , and the river card didn't change anything I suggest to you to GO ALL IN or make big re-raise.
If you hit flush on the flop , and you play with check , and if make raise , and you call , and the turn isn't a good card for you I mean is a possible full house , and if he cotinue his agressivity , then I suggest to you to make a raise on the turn , and if he call , and the river card didn't change anything , and he cotinue his agressivity , on the river , then just call. But remember at many situation you will see that he will fold when you played with re-raise at the turn.
You hit full house , and you want to get some chips from him , then play with check , and if he check you back , then you can put a bet at the turn , but if the card didn't change anything at the turn you can play with check the turn , and make a raise at the river or you can make a raise at the turn is depends of the situation.
When holding a monster hand, I think that is considerable for my own to do some things:
1) When with a hand like AK or even JT that hit a flop like AK5 or J98, respectively, I would want to check on flop and make some considerable bets (a value not too high for them to fold and not too low to profit less, usually about 3 or 4BB) on turn and river.
2)With the same hand, I like to make a slowplay on these cards, I mean a low bet after the flop (as my hand is very probably the nuts), so the other players can pay to see the turn card, and a little higher than that first bet after the turn and before the river, so the players think: "Well I've already payed about 3-4BB till now, payin one more wont change too much in my stack". And after the river, probably my hand will continue to be the best, so I got about 2 options now: I) Betting about 5 or 6BB so they will run and I garantee the pot, or II) Betting 4 or 3BB as I did before, so I can get even more money from them, consedreing there is 1 or 2 players on the pot yet. Well I really like to make this number II, cause although the chance of they folding is considerable, the chance of them to pay for it and you get even more money is not too low.
I know that my example is a lil optimist cause I didnt though about the players having a poker pair that will ruin all my plays, but hte chance of getting a poker pair on the first example is too low cause I've already got AK and there are AK5 on the table.
In general, bet/bet/bet. Don't expect your opponents to build a pot for you. Slow playing only makes sense in two situations: 1) You hit the board so hard that there is nothing else for anyone else to have hit (AK on an AAKr board), or 2) Your opponent is so LAGGY that he will almost definitely bet if you check.
But in general, if you are too tight, you will not get paid off as well on your big hands. If you have been splashing around and playing pretty aggressive, your opponents will call you down with less.
Slow play your hand on the safe flops. Bet bigger on the bad flops for your hand. Sometimes you will be re-raised by weaker hands. Other times nobody has anything to bluff with so you won't get them to waste a chip.
