Over the years, especially in my early online poker days, I spent countless hours in freerolls. Why not, I was only working part time and going to school part time. Life was easy back then. Now, my time is limited for poker so I'm playing less and less freerolls, spending my time on actual descent size buyins so I can get a sizeable return for my time spent, granted making the money. Any thoughts on how much time you've consumed in freeroll land. Is it worth it?

hey

I like to play freerolls. There is no risk of losing your money, and the level of the game is not much different from cheap tournaments.

freerolls r nice when its hard to get cash onto ur account,w/ all the bitcoin stuff

I find it funny that some people who play freerolls on a consistent basis call them a waste of time. Not saying you. To me, I play them because they keep me occupied through the day , If I win..awesome if I lose...Oh well. It's only a waste of time if you're not realizing that you're not going to get rich off of em

Free-rolls are good grounds for learning and testing different poker theories. Yes, everyone in free-rolls do not really play sound poker, but it does help with observing and noting tight/loose agro/passive players.
While early on, advance poker plays sail clear over heads, later on they may prove useful.
Another thing to note, not all free-rolls are created equal.

Freerolls are a good way to practice playing hands in different ways. Also a good test of determination and discipline.

Freerolls can be very time consuming and can often end in 0 profits. I've spent hours sometimes playing freerolls just to get eliminated right before cashing but this time can be used to practice your skills without losing your bankroll.

I treat freerolls as an opportunity to have a good time, even a little but to replenish my bankroll. Especially since I often manage to overcome large fields of players.
although you have to play for contributions, otherwise the development will be in place

CardsChat freerolls actually offer the best oppurtunity for members to boost their bankrolls compared to all the other freerolls offered elsewhere
They are not any waste of time here as many CC'ers are great players ,now other non cc freerolls i will say are a shoot roll when seeing a shove every time
Only freerolls i do play are CardsChat ones,

There are many pokerrooms that have freerolls in Internet and some of them have not so many participants as pokerstars. If you ask Google for example you find it.

although the pace has changed a bit last years, I totally agree with this.
Although there's some exceptions at sites where they have great newbie freerolls, I have not found better freerolls compared to the CC freerolls.

it's hard to build your bankroll playing freerolls. the freerolls are more for learning not for earning

What better practice can you get than a freeroll. Requires extra patience in the early stage because some just go all in on anything thinking its free so double up a few times or go to the next one. But taken seriously its great practice and can build a bankroll so you dont have to use money out of your pocket. Chris Fergison did a challenge starting from $0 to $10K. And last I heard of it he had made 20K bankroll. So its how you look at it. Maybe a waste of time to some or an investment of time by others.

Hello.
I have been playing poker for only one year. In order to gain experience and increase my bankroll, I play freerolls. On average, I spend 2-3 hours a day on the game. I think freerolls are a very good option to improve the game of players who have just started to play poker.

so when you get all in, you have to think about wanting to ruin the whole tournament for one hand

Freerolles

Hey,

I spend much time with freerolls. I started playing poker at early age and had much time to spend and trying to make some dollars. Currently I just play freerolls on the weekends.

Private freerolls are great for building bankrolls - especially ours. :)

Public freerolls are definitely a huge waste of time in my opinion.
I only play ours now. I did when first starting play a lot of the free rolls.

It can be worth it if you're trying to build your bankroll from the mud. It can be a very good challenge to to that. Of course, the point of the game is to move up and try other games. Nothing wrong with buy ins for tournaments and ring games at all.

I love guys like chooper he thinks he better than every body else because he graduate from freerolls. To low buyin tourneys. They really aren't that different just .5 or a $1 buy-in the skill level is about the same you still get a lot of people throwing allin and the same dumb mistakes that you get in the freerolls because the people that your up against just graduated from the freeroll level so there making those same freeroll mistakes. So in general you really are still playing the same game your just buying into it now.

Hi all,

I have nothing against freerolls. They are an excellent place to practice one's skill. My goal most of the time is to get in the money and to take notes as well as observe players. I practice play in various positions to get a feel for the range of cards one should hold. If someone is out of the range, I take note and play accordingly.

Freerolls are only a waste of time if you get in there and monkey around. If you go there with a goal of improving some aspect of your game - it is well worth it!

Not so much a focus on the money - that will come over time. Improve your skill and do not risk your hard earned money while doing so. Like I tell my buddies at live games - poker is not a get rich quick lottery. It requires skill and practice to achieve a certain level of consistency.

So smile and play your freerolls - just go in there with a goal.

It's time to spend your time on freerolls for beginners, as it goes to poker training ..:reddy:

I would not say wasted hours to the freerolls, but if I spent many hours playing them. They help a lot in the practice of tournaments.
Now on March 14th at my local casino there is a big poker tournament and there are qualifying freerolls for the main event, it is time to put my freeroll skills to the test. :D
