Skill is essential in any poker tournament because you can't win a tournament just by luck!!! With luck you can win some hands but not the whole tournament!!!

With freerolls just get lucky in my opinion, as no one is risking any MONEY so its just a lottery.

In the Freebuy pokerstars tournaments (like the ones which guarantee 5/10 seats to $5.50/$11 etc satellites) you need way more luck than in other 'standard' freerolls, at the beginning especially. If you survived for a while then skill gets back to play imho, but surviving the 4-5 all-ins per hand at the beginning requires a lot of luck.

I believe you need both to play poker, but of course skill takes precedence over luck because without skill you cannot win with luck alone, but the opposite is valid, without luck it is possible to win if you have a lot of skill.

First of all, you need luck. But your skills and experience improve your chances. However, I think that at least in freerolls, luck is very important, considering that most players are just playing bingo.

IMO it's impossible to win a freeroll without a bit of luck. It is to say that variance must be on your side.
You will face a lot of all-in, especially during the first 20 minutes.
So you need to survive this period with enough chips to be able to use your skills and play a profitable game when the shoves fest is over.
In a freeroll I think the percentages are about luck 65%, skills 35%

Freerolls are like lotteries. It's just up to you to decide when and what to go all-in. I think skill comes into play at a later stage of the tournament.

Both is important in freerolls but if you are going to play on bad hands and all in too often and if you are bluffing too much then it depends on skill much more then on luck because luck most time is not important if you play terrible.

i have 95% luck and 5 % skill, and I win sooo many freeroll in unibet and 10 freeroll in pokerstars
