There are times when we play poker tournaments and our first hand is AK and someone goes all-in playing before us, like you would play AK in the first hands of a tournament against an all-in from an opponent who has played before us. ?

It depends if you feel like gambling and feeling lucky. AK is a strong hand but not impenetrable.

Still Ace rag at the end of the day had a player in tonight's tourney go all-in before I acted and because I had AK diamond suited I wanted to have a go at him alone so I re-raised all in behind him hoping to get maybe another caller and get more chips if I lost the toss and isolate the all-in player.
Cards turned over and he had J,4 diamonds, flop came J,4,Q, rainbow and he double up costing me 800 chips.
You can read all the books in the world but if idiots like this keep playing how can you expect to win against DUMB! LUCK!

They are poker things and more danger is when playing in preflop I have seen many times AA and AK lose against trio, flush and color but that can be done from time to time it is better to wait for the flop.

Big No for me, Even if nobody calls A u're the BB.

In best case scenario you are facing KQs or A(low card)

But in this best case you are 1 in 5 favorite. It means, on every 5 tourns you gonna lose in your first hand. It doesn't sound logic, at least for me.

Maybe after flop when you hit an A ou K, an considering how loose they are.

In my opinion it will depend a lot on the style of play, my hand, my bankroll, my position at the table and my stack level related to the opponent's, but in GENERAL I pay AK allin's.

On the first hand, usually a lot of people go all-in. It is not surprising if you are moved 2 3 with a reverse straight, for example.

I would be folding 99% of the time. Unless its hyper turbo event.

I prefer playing AK postflop more because this hand is strong only when it hits the flop. Of course, she is still strong against weak aces, but far from always your opponent will have a weak ace.

Depends the buy-in, your bankroll and if you are willing to gamble.

If its the very first hand I will play it. You will find a lot of crazy people going all in first hand and often you will have the better hand.

I think it's stupid to call an all-in with AK in the first hands of an MTT. AK is not a hand that will always win and I would not risk throwing away my tournament for a few more chips. Now in a given post-flop situation and from the middle to the front of an MTT it would be different.

This can be a trap. For example I had yesterday AK in first hand. I played all in against all in before me. Opponent had AA :eek:

Firstly, how important the tournament is for me, and secondly, what type of tournament (hyper, turbo, etc.) and what will be my mood (I know it should not be in poker as well as emotions)

If this is a knockout tournament and the opponent has fewer chips, then I can call him. In other situations, always fold.

Opinions vary apparently - from my point of view, I tend to call with this sort of hand in freeroll MTTs. It's a freeroll in the end and an opportunity to increase your stack early on. Most of people are afraid / conservative in the early stages. In my oppinion, if you got a Hand like AK - try, worst that can happen is you look for another freeroll tourney.

Cheers

Making a strong raise is the best way for several opponents to withdraw so I can avoid risks playing AK

For me, it depends on the type of tournament. Right now, I mostly play hyper turbo freerolls and calling a shove with AK on the first hand seems to be profitable.

Don’t think I would. You put yourself at risk of losing to an inferior hand when there is so much time ahead of you. Pick your spots and and reserve your all ins for the nuts with a good hook or when you are a low stack.

AK is a premium hand before the flop but if you are in position only with the big blind and the small blind there is no reason to think about trying to double the chips at the beginning is very important.
