honestly, this would be a hard laydown. It just smacks of a 4 flush push to me... put the problem is Emperor behind you. He might have a hand and just smooth called you, since you were playing very aggressive and will probably fire on the turn.

Huh, still a hard laydown.:(

About 1900 in the pot, 723 to call (if I added right), so you are getting just over 2.5:1 on your money. You beat A9, TT, JJ and the semi-bluff flush draws and straight draws (or T8c for the str-fl draw ?!), although with a lot of them (pair and fl draw, for ex) you are not really that far ahead. One thing to note: we have the Qc in our hand, so that eliminates a LOT of hands that Combu could be "big" semi-bluffing (KcQc, QcJc, QcTc, etc).
You lose to KK, AA, 99, 77, 44, 97 (I think we can discount 74 and 94).

I doubt that Emp. is ahead here, as he has not shown any strength in the hand yet. Against two player he would probably want to defend a set against the flush draw (although I can't say for sure).

One key to consider, however: Combu is raising the continuation better, AND a caller, usually a much bigger sign of strength, and less likely an outright "move", although it could be a squeeze play.

Really tough spot; there are a ton of hands you are behind or are in a very close race with, and there are quite a few you are ahead of against an aggressive player like Combu, and any 50/50 type hands you should call because of the price.

Probably a fold, however: you only have a pair, and will still have around 1100 chips left with blinds still very low.

OK I go into the tank for like 25 seconds here, then I fold,
Emperor calls, shows straight draw, combu has 99 for top set, and takes down a big pot.

I raise a little more PF, but I think you played it fine (v nice laydown). I think combu's too good to be doing this with TT or A9. This is either a big combo draw or a set IMO.

Roy, you should know better then to call straight draws.

But yeah...this is kind of an iffy lay down...you wanna play this hand...but knowing he called big pre-flop, he had to have had a PP and we can obviously tell he tripped...so yeah...

I wish I was there!
DAMN GETTING UP EARLY!

Just wanted to point out that I made a brilliant laydown as well. UTG I had 72 SUITED (diamond)!!! But my brilliant PF read allowed me to deduce that calling, even though I had a monster suited hand, would be a bad idea, so I made the tough tough but brilliant laydown.

no, it was on the flop, not the turn emp. but i'm sure you overestimated your equity anyway, because of course you didn't know for sure that i had a set
