I think you clearly missed a value bet on the river here. What range do you put him on? Taking into account his call of your raise on flop. I think he most likely has AQ or AJ in this situation. KQ is laughable.

I actually like this since he has a big stack and you might trap (CR flop), but I think re-raising PF as well is definitely a reasonable alternative. If you knew his image, CR this flop is reasonable too, but since this is one of your first hands at this table, I like the way you played it.

Well it's definitely risky, but I had him pretty much pinned on a smaller pair or something like AJ. I don't mind giving a free card to either because we can maybe convince them with a flop check that we're sitting on AK and that their pair is good or that they can bluff me out on the turn. There's absolutely nothing wrong with betting the flop, I think it's just a more conservative approach.
Then again you'll run into another AQ hand later on where I screw myself over doing the same thing so you could be right about giving a free card
Good idea, but I think in general a hand that's ch-r worthy will be doing so regardless of the size, no? Actually we could induce some ch-r bluffs too I guess, or maybe from Jx. I think I was just trying to stay in line with what I'd done before and just hoped a naked ace would tag along thinking I was just making a c-bet.

Ya this was one I had to put up in HA (https://www.cardschat.com/forum/tournament-hand-analysis-51/aks-vs-lag-3-r-mtt-94640/) because I really wasn't sure he had me beat or not. Or at least I wasn't sure I was ahead of his range.
Anyways I actually think AQ/AJ are much too strong for his play here. You don't see his PT stats but he was fairly aggressive and I think by his flop block-bet that he's either on QJ, FD or a weak king. If he had TP, he would have check-raised me or 4-bet after his weak flop lead.
But ya, I'm still pretty sure I missed a value bet on that river. I just chickened out

Yeah, that's an ugly one. It does have some reasoning though - if people get the idea that they can minraise my blinds with a good chance of success, then they'll keep doing it. At least this way they know they have to deal with at least seeing a flop and facing some resistance.
I completely agree with you though, nothing wrong with folding.

I just got to this one and was thinking the same thing because 1) he could be stealing, but also 2) this always makes me remember something from Phil Gordon about how he hates playing from the blinds so he would rather take a shot at taking it down preflop.
