Should I have played this hand differently?
I didn't have much of a read on the villain other than he/she didn't stand out and may have been a slight bit passive:

I was thinking she either rivered the straight or slow-played a 9.

Anyway, I managed to work my way up to 2500+ after this. But then I ended up busting to Homer 180 (at a new table). He had a gigantic stack & was shoving it every chance he got when he flopped a 10 to beat my pocket 8's.

nah, i don't think u did anything wrong maybe since this person was passive u could've maybe raised alot more pre- 4x the bb or maybe even 4.5x, but other then that there was nothing u could've done, and more then likely this person did have a/9 in the bb, or maybe j8 or jk in the bb, and that's why thus for that reason this person was chasing or even 10/j/ or even 10/q, all of these are possible so u actually got of quite cheap, and made a good fold.

Players will call any raise in a freeroll with anything. You made a good play and the board is just ugly. It quite possible someone has you beat. Good fold.

Actually I slow played the 10 which I would have folded I remember that hand because it suprised me when others were betting (which of course helped me) when I had trips on the flop. On the turn I checked because I was slow playing the boat (if you play more with me you will see that trend). I like it when people get the flush and bet like crazy when I have the boat. (Happens at the casino too).

But in the end it was a good fold on your end....but you could have called to see too Or asked I probably would have showed if you asked (note I said probably)

Wow, you really slowplayed this hand then. I was wondering if I should have bet the turn because I figured you had a draw (& then maybe hit on the river). I didn't, however, because I didn't want to push w/ 2 pair on the board. I was also worried you had a 9 because you called readily on the flop. I actually didn't think you had a 10, though. I don't really feel bad about my river fold; a 10, a 9, KJ, J8, or QQ would have all had me beat & I figured there was too good of a chance you had one of those.

It seems I got coolered, but managed to survive it.

Actually, it didn't. I busted well short of the money. However, the guy who busted me had a gigantic stack at the time that should have easily made the money, and he didn't, either.
