This hand is from an MTT last night - I was in 13th place with 15 players left at the time. This is where I usually come undone - just short of the final table, and this hand is typical of where I get busted. I'm wondering if I'm playing it wrong, or just getting unlucky.

i think that shove is the correct play, ur stack is so low compared to the blinds that a standard raise is pointless and a fold is out of the question

standard play..and thats what ive been running into myself. it hasnt been working for me as i never hit...so ive went into trying "un" standard play. If I was playing behind u and u min raise there with that stack..my alarms would be goin off worse than if u shove. or u could just limp, and option to fold if CO, SB, BB shove preflop or whiff the flop, or stack off vs 99 if A or K hits cuz u disguised ur hand by not raising. JMO and that has seemed to work for me more here lately with AK AQ than overplaying it PF.

In response to Un-diluted, the top 18 were paid, so I was already ITM.

I know that AK is a great starting hand, but I find it works a lot better if you can see a flop with it. Going all-in in EP, I have fold equity, but most callers will have a PP, so I'll be behind. I know that it's standard strategy to push here, but I'm behind most callers, and don't feel great about putting all my chips in here.

On the other hand, I can't fold it, and any kind of raise other than all-in would be ineffective. I guess it's a case of being time to "Roll the dice." I guess that over time this play will pay off.

Standard short-stack shove w/AK suited from EP IMO.

Are you getting away from this hand? no. Did you play it badly, no, the allin is ok.

Can you play it differently, yes, will the result be any different?, who knows...

Do you know the "stop-n-go" move? You can google it, because what I'll describe is a different version...

Ok, ifffin u are a short stack, and get dealt hole cards worthy of the preflop allin, then you can make this move(works better with a BIG pp, but atc works too):

You going allin, so attempt to fatten the pot. Sure, more players, lessen your odds, but, makes bigger winnings when it works. Risky, sure, but you short stack, and going allin, so isolation, not high priority.

Limp, to encourage other limpers, or any preflop raise. If you can open raise allin, you can limp, and then call anything. Get raised, allin. Same as allin. Get limpers, good. Build your allin pot. Do you wanna dblup, or more?

Allin on flop, any flop.

Bang, that is it.

Will that 'move' work on the HH you posted?
