Was this a good call, my thought was that he was on draw and was acting like a donk in freeroll.

No real way to know that early, if at all in a freeroll. Might as well go for it.

I agree with everyone else it's hard to tell this early on, there's just too many players that are desperate to double up or leave on freerolls.
