I usually will limp in with 3 broadway cards. Being 2 suited is a bonus. Is limping in with just 3 broadway cards a mistake?

S@SSyReBeL: folds
rstone1: calls 40
beerman25: folds
five8teen: calls 20

Nut straight flop and nothing threatening on board. I dont want to scare anyone away so min. raise.

goatsaurus: calls 20
Alon Ipser: raises 1420 to 1440 and is all-in

goatsaurus: calls 1420

Still got the nuts but another diamond. I don't want anyone cathing a flush so all in.

I don't understand.

On the flop, you minraise, giving a set/2 pair odds to draw to a boat, but when the flush draw appears on the turn suddenly you get concerned about giving odds to draws and push for about 5 million times the pot?

Doesn't make sense. ;)

Yea, my mistakes are usually pretty obvious to me when I post here. Post flop bet was too small. I don't think the all in bet was bad though. I wanted to take down the pot and anyone calling was going to be behind. Also I still want to know if 3 broadway cards are good enough to limp in with preflop or shoud I give up this practice?

I think if you know it's going to be a multiway, unraised pot, then go ahead. Obviously if you are shooting for high-only, you would rather have all 4 of them broadway, but 3 is enough (especially if they're double suited).

I try not to make it too much of a habit, but it brings in a healthy pot once in a while.

Personally, I disagree. Me and my 2 weeks of Omaha experience (nearly 3,000 hands, though) suggest that going after high-only with 4 high cards has a positive but limited +EV. Exchanging one of those for a "dangler" as McEvoy/Cloutier call it really damages the EV of the play. Suited doesn't make up for it because your suit isn't ace-high and so is marginal at best.

To me this is a fold pre-flop. Sure, it's a cheap flop, but I prefer to just get away from marginal hands as they tend to bring doom more often than glory in Hi/Lo.

I think you basically played it right after that, though all-in was a bit of a big bet compared to the pot (you want them to call with bad odds rather than fold for sure, goes Sklansky's theory). But he wouldn't have folded that if you raised him his Mama.

Thanks Beriac, what is the title of the McEvoy/Cloutier book?

Unlucky river for you but your opponent did have a better starting hand than you (for the High anyway).
