My idea on this hand was to target the UTG since for the last 5 hands he shoved every one of them and his stats after 43 hands are: VPIP 50 PFR 18 Limp 36

Do you guys think that calling here with AJ is ok? Or most of his range is behind my calling range and basically is a gamble this situation.

pokerstars, Hold'em No Limit - 500/1,000 (100 ante) - 9 players

UTG: 9,876 (10 bb)
UTG+1: 5,125 (5 bb)

MP+1: 19,388 (19 bb)
LP: 12,792 (13 bb)
CO: 711 (1 bb)
BU: 4,090 (4 bb)
SB (Hero): 24,466 (24 bb)

BB: 17,798 (18 bb)

Pre-Flop: (2,400) Hero is SB with J A
UTG raises to 9,776 (all-in), 5 players fold, BTN calls 3,990 (all-in), Hero 3-bets to 18,552, 1 fold

Flop: (25,442) 7 3 6 (3 players, 2 all-in)

Turn: (25,442) 8 (3 players, 2 all-in)

River: (25,442) T (3 players, 2 all-in)

Total pot: 25,442

Showdown:
SB (Hero) shows J A (high card, Ace)
(Equity - Pre-Flop: 24%, Flop: 13%, Turn: 7%, River: 0%)

UTG shows A 9 (a straight, Six to Ten)
(Equity - Pre-Flop: 20%, Flop: 16%, Turn: 26%, River: 100%)

BU shows A Q (high card, Ace)
(Equity - Pre-Flop: 56%, Flop: 71%, Turn: 67%, River: 0%)

If UTG has shoved 5 hands in a row, then I would also call with AJ. Just a bad beat really, since even if you just hold against UTG, you win the side pot and make a small profit. I also think, BTN can be on a wide range, since he is so short, and he might also have noticed, that UTG has been very active. This time BTN actually had a real hand, but that does not mean, his entire range has AJ in bad shape.

Not a mistake but a spot we could pass on based on the 3 way pot-----to stack protect vs weak V our stack size is important on this table- --The BTN call can be any ace giving us less chance of hitting our hand- therefore if the UTG has 33 and the BTN has A2hh we only have 32% equity vs UTG---suited is a better call for us

Good points-I always wonder if position influences range in a spot like this by the UTG V-are they more likely to have that better range in this spot? - which means we can edge pass here based on table dynamics- or if we should ignore table dynamics as the table may break very soon and stay with raw equity vs range
